Bottled. An unclear golden-brown beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma is dominated by beechwood smoke. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and beechwood smoke, with a light acidic edge.

Bottle 500ml.
Clear medium orange amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, fruity, orange, smoke, meat, rubber. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and rubber acrid bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090822]

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A hazy, dark orange beer topped by a beige, creamy head. Nice smoke on the nose, maybe too dominating, leaving fruityness in the background. Sweet, smoked flavor with a smoke-sour touch. Citrusy hops lasting all the way, givinig a decent bitterness in the finish. Nice co2, medium body. A pleasant surprise, even though it probably would be even better with a little bit less smoke. 090822

A good attempt at a smoky beer from Crown, but doesn’t quite match up to the quality of the best of their other beers. Tasty and well integrated smoke but not quite dark or caramelly enough to have the right balance, IMO.

Papsoe (25056) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 17, 2009
Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a cloudy and opaque amber golden with a dense, off-white head leaving laces. Distinct Bamberg smoke in the nose. Medium body, a little caramel and yeast. Smoky accents and a little phenols. Finishes dry. Very unusual for Britain. 220809

MiP (15972) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - SEP 8, 2009
Bottle, 5.5%. Woody smoke aroma. Quite cloudy brown colour. Small stable tan head. The flavour is nicely smoky. Not too powerful, but distinct enough.

Maria (10211) - Thisted, DENMARK - SEP 3, 2009
The color is unclear, reddish brown and the head is creamy. The aroma has notes of smoke and a little stale sausages. The flavor has notes of smoke, meat and a little cheese – a bit peculiar.
