Bottle from Liz. Pours dark ruddy copper with a creamy beige head. Aromas of dark fruit and dark roast malt. Med + body. Flavor is raisin/date, with a little treacle and a very little yeast/spice. It all blends together in a very tasty and drinkable Belgian. Touch of chocolate, perhaps, in the finish. Ratman197 (15462) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JUN 16, 2012

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2011 Draft sample at the brewery. Pours a mostly clear brown color with a small beige head. Aroma of raisin, plum, yeast, caramel, roasted malts, hops, and spices. The flavor is mostly plum, raisin, and yeast, with notes of malt, caramel, hops, and pepper. Medium bodied, and not as cloudy in color or thick in body as a lot of dubbels. Smooth and rich, with a little warming alcohol. Nice take on a dubbel from this startup brewer.

Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.; from weekend notes). Looks solid; a fairly transparent copper with light-beige head that dissipates into lacing. Smells of some caramel malt, toffee, a bit of dark fruit, and Belgian yeast. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. An okay (albeit unadventurous) no-frills example of the style. drfabulous (8677) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - AUG 6, 2009
Can’t find much info on this one. Brewery’s website doesn’t list descriptions. Had on tap at Shaved Duck in St. Louis. Plumb and fruit. Decent carbonation. Tasty interpretation of the dubbel. FROTHINGSLOSH (8167) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 4, 2015
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky brown color with a small soapy tan head that faded and left decent lacing. The aroma was malty, sweet and had a bit of dark fruit. The flavor was tangy, bitter, toasty and a bit sour and medicinal with faint dark fruits. Short finish. Medium body. Disappointing. Strykzone (7715) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JUN 20, 2010
An aroma of high alcohol complex fruit that is akin to a brandy. It is a copper colored brew with a small but long lasting smooth tan head. The flavor brings lots of dark fruit and sweet caramel with chocolate. Fruit that asserts the most is cherry and raisin. This is really close to being a super beer but it just doesn’t quite make it. Yeast did not seem to be present and it could have added a very cool complexity. wlajwl (7124) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - JUN 30, 2012
Aroma is dark fruit, yeast and malt grit. The flavor is dark fruit/grapes/raisins, malts and a mildly tart finish. A bit thin for a Dubbel but not bad as a whole.
