2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Man!! I was wanting to pull for a home state brewery, but beer after beer it is a let down. This is a long way from being a notable porter. I. LOVE. PORTERS. I saved this for last out of my selection doing a build-your-own-six-pack. None of that yummy full bodied goodness one expects from a porter. Come on guys... I’ll keep my eyes open and try again with hope.
Rated on 7-09-2011 (Bottle) The appearance of this beer is a small smooth tan head with a short retention, reddish brown transparent body, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and no lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, and sweet. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. The mouthfeel is semi-lively and this beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, the texture of this beer for its style is weak as is the flavor. This is not a bad beer, it just needs some fine tuning for it to be more true to style. Pours a light brown. Looks like a diet coke in the glass. Aroma is slightly hoppy with slight roasted malt. Very light bodied very thin beer. Not much malt flavor. Not really a porter. More like a less roasty mild. But definitely not what I expected in a porter. Steverus0 (332) - Shreveport, Louisiana, USA - OCT 20, 2013
A tasty if somewhat thin porter with a great and on cue mouthfeel.
Typical light coffee and roasted barley. Nothing amazing, but a satisfying porter nonetheless

Pours to a finger-length head that stays around for awhile, though the lacing doesn’t last much. Brown with ruby tints. Typical porter aroma of roast, chocolate malt, and bread. Flavor is very tangy to the point where it’s rather unbalanced, dominating the roast. Chocolate doesn’t come out much, either. It’s drinkable and light-bodied, but ultimately, the tang just gets too off-putting for it to be truly enjoyable. Not a very good porter.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2015 Tasted from bottle into a odd, tall glass at Tavern of Fine Arts. It poured a clear, dark reddish brown colour with thick, long-lasting beige foam and a little lace. Weak, but true-to-style porter aromas: bread, toast, roasted grain, chocolate notes and bright coffee-like acidity, tart, almost like lacto sourness (perhaps some aciduated malt?), non-descript hops bitterness. Thin body and slick mouthfeel, average carbonation, fairly dry finish. Tasty and refreshing, but not as complex as classic examples. kambei70 (1136) - - MAY 3, 2013
2013 bottle to a pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy brown amber with a big foamy tan head. Aroma is a very light malt smell. Taste is a little malt and a slightly sweet bitterness that leaves a residual soapy bitterness.

The color of this beer is brown with a small cream-colored head, and the aroma is bread yeast, vanilla, and nutty malts. The taste is slightly sweet, slightly umami, and a touch sour, which is a nice balance, especially once considered alongside the fusion of the medium body, slick texture, average carbonation, and abrupt finish that is more than pleasing. reggiedunlop (3726) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 11, 2013
Pours clear chestnut with a medium off white head. Aroma has cardboard, tootsie rolls, and caramel/chocolate. Flavor is tootsie rolls and dry leaves. Mouthfeel is light/medium and the finish is earthy/bitter and roasty/cocoa. Imaena (2359) - Maputo, MOZAMBIQUE - FEB 27, 2013
Bottle at Marlowe tavern. Sour and plain. Decent brew but nothing special.
