750, foiled and capped. Thanks, RiversideAK! What a trip to get to try this one. Crystal clear rubied medium amber. Headless. Laceless. Tangy, doughy, slightly fruity nose. Creamy, slightly stickym fairly flat body. Smoky, caramelly mid-palate. Mild, dark, tobacco-y, leather-y mid-palate. Very complex and approachable, if not much in the way of offering anything new. Ruby with a thin off white head. Aroma is very sweet, caramel, light alcohol, light smoke. Taste is fairly malty, with a light earthiness, faint smoke, light alcohol. jarspag (601) - San Francisco, California, USA - APR 15, 2009
Had to buy this. b/c why not? crystal malt bomb w/ an odd but interesting sweetness. caramel. packs some heat. unique but weird. drinkable for me, but i can see this being disliked. hopscotch (11236) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - APR 9, 2009
Bottle... Clear copper ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The aroma is chock full of toffee with more subtle, accompanying notes of roasted cashews, ethanol and chocolate. Full-bodied and a touch creamy with moderate carbonation. The flavor lays forth minerally, earthy bitterness, crystal malt, medium sherry and a good dose of ethanol heat. Lengthy, bitter, very warming finish. Thanks go out to bu11zeye for shipping this bottle my way! GodOfThunder (1271) - Orlando, Florida, USA - APR 6, 2009
Thanks be to the Cheeseman. Strong malt. Deep amber color. Nice roast in the flavor. Nice finish.

Courtesy ChzMan. Amber/brown/ruby, minimal carbonation. Malt forward, fruity, sweet, lightly bitter on the finish. Subtle vegetal notes. Full body, balanced carbonation. Meh. bhensonb (15753) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 4, 2009
Bottle from South Bay Drug. Pours a brilliant reddish orange copper color - like a jewel. The beige/tan head started respectable, but went while I typed this. Big aromas of malt and fruit. All mixed together. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Rather fluffy. There’s some heat up front. It starts a bit sweet, then goes astringent. Light smoke. Touch of treacle. Not a lot of hop in the finish. Surely fits the style though. A good sipper. TURDFERGUSON (4068) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAR 23, 2009
Bottle shared by ucusty. The Mexicans sure do love to put meat in everything! Even their beer! What a big, meaty barleywine this is. We all seemed to taste a bit if sausage, along with big smokiness, caramel and a booziness that surrounds it all. Slightly bitter and off-putting palate. Kinda hard to drink. durhambeer (2585) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAR 22, 2009
Bottle thanks by ucusty. Thanks, David! Deep clear amber pour with light yellow head. Sweet but astringent aroma; a bit boozy. Slightly peaty and smoky. This seemed like an imperial Scotch ale in a lot of respects. Lots more malt than hop presence. Disappointing. Magjayran (1379) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAR 20, 2009
Thanks ucusty. Copper colored with a tan head. Lots of caramel in the aroma as well as noticeable alcohol. Very boozy with caramel being about the only thing I pick up until a touch of smoke shows up near the finish. Interesting.
