1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Baden Baden 25/10 2016. 33 cl bottle from local market. Stout Viking on the label. Seems to be a very bio dynamic product from Imkergut Cum Natura. Pours clear slightly dirty looking yellow with small white head. Settles as very thin layer of foam. No lacing. Aroma is quite strange. Heavy sweet with quite a lot of honey supplemented by something a little bit artificial. Soft carbonation and and watery palate. Flavor is sugary and overly sweet. They seem to be overdoing the honey theme a bit. Almost no bitterness or other beer-like qualities. This will not become a German favorite. Actually I am a bit surprised that they are allowed to call this "Bier" thinking of the rather strict German rules. But I do understand why the woman who sold me this beer had very few teeth left in her mouth. Drinking this is the sure way to the dentist.
