Keg @ GTMW ’16. Deep amber pour with an off-white head. Nose has a pronounced caramelized grain note. Mild toffee. Flavor is a moderately spicy toffee bomb. Chewy and sweet with a big wallop of bitter, spicy hops on the finish. Full body, oily. deyholla (12590) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 21, 2017
Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2016. Pours a deep amber with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of bread and sweet grains with toffee and a hint of pine backing. Flavor has a good amount of sweet grains and toffee with some grass, light caramel and bread supporting. Ibrew2or3 (8913) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - NOV 1, 2014
Enjoyed at gabf 2014. It pours with a deep dark clear copper body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma is malty and kind of biscuit-y and smelling plenty sweet with molasses and more malts. Another pull brings up sweet nuttiness and melanoidin malts. Wow, the taste is smooth and sweet with malts as well as nuttiness that has a hazel nut edge to it. This has a nice smooth taste that is going down very well with its smooth malty and nuttiness. Yum. b3shine (9271) - Indiana, USA - JAN 4, 2013
Draft to 20 oz chalice (big ballin’ up in dis bitz). Looks good; an opaque brown with thin off-white lacing. Smells and tastes sweet and malty with some hop notes and a nice, smooth finish. You can definitely tell they aged this one (and for the better). A great example of the style. jkwood04 (5472) - Connecticut, USA - DEC 21, 2012
On tap at the brewery. Pours brown/ruby with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, and light chocolate malts plus floral hops and some dough. Flavor the same with a nice blend of malts. Smooth texture. Not a bad barley wine.

It’s been too long since I last checked in on Cumberland. They are still trucking along making solid beers if this is anything to go by. I should plan another visit next time I am in the area.
Aroma / Appearance - The dense coppery base contains a full body. It is fairly standard for a barleywine but on the mark. Vanilla, oak, and mellow old hops are soft for a big beer.
Flavor / Palate - Sweet caramel, hints of lemon, and vanilla cling to the palate. The barrel aging has done a good job of taking the edge off the beer and turning into more of an old ale. This is heady and worthy of a tapline at an event like the Great Taste.
8/11/12. GTMW. Deep brown/amber pour with a nice tan head. Smooth aroma with dark fruits, sugar, and a touch of nuttiness. Nice flavor with dark fruits, brown sugar, and some more of that nuttiness. Not too bad!
