Dark brown, no head. Aroma of dried fruit, especially raisin. Smooth, rich, oily. Sweet taste of dried fruits and nuts with a touch of drying wood. zacgillbanks (5506) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - AUG 2, 2013
Bottle from Open All Hours, Keswick. This is a ruby red beer that pours with no head. It has rich red fruit and currant flavours, sweet sherry notes and vanilla and almond on the finish. FaithHealer1 (358) - SCOTLAND - APR 25, 2013
Bottle from North Bar, Leeds. Pours a deep ruby, very little head. Aroma is red fruits and caramel, toffeeish malts. Taste is sweet: caramel, soft toffee, some jammy fruits, a little orange and fairly strikingly of fig rolls. Good. Medium mouthfeel, faintest CO2 prickle, but mostly flat (not too bad a thing). Perfectly adequate: not spectacular, but very amiable and drinkable. stravale (3145) - Co. Westmeath, IRELAND - MAR 10, 2013

Reddish copper brown, no head, thin white rim
Aroma of chocolate, light roast, not much interest in the aroma
Taste of caramel malts, dab of chocolate, touch of fruity malt, not a lot going on here for 8%
Palate - Almost no carb, thin body. Finish as main flavour.
Overall - Thin and dull for the abv, rather non-descript.
Deep red ruby amber with no head and light carbonation. Smells of sweet malt, alcohol, caramel or syrup and a light hint of dark fruit like plums and raisins. Deep and complex, sort of like a jar of jam. Medium oily body. Very sweet malt and dark fruit (plums), caramel. Nice smooth with a sour apple element. Warms the belly. Smooth and easy to drink and great with cheese.

Pours a dark red/brown colour with a small brown head that quickly disappeared. Malty and slightly sweet smell, little bit of fruit and possibly chocolate. Taste again is slightly of chocolate with a strong malt character and dark fruits. Slightly lacking on the palate with practically no carbination. Syrup like mouthfeel. Not a bad beer at all, perhaps let down by a lack of carbination. davidbourne35 (12) - - APR 12, 2012
Bottle, The Beer Emporium, Sandbach. Poured a fluffy head that soon died to minimal lacing. Aromas of malt with alcohol in the background. Easy feel in the mouth, bit thin. Tasted of fruity dark malts, prunes with a hint of chocolate. Enjoyed and would have another. MadIndian (2743) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 25, 2012
Gift from SJ. I like the label.
The first thing I noticed was a pleasant sweet malt aroma with hitns of hop and fruit. The taste was rather sweet, with hints of caramel malt.
It was a decent easy drinking beer, with no great characteristics other than it was pleasant.

Red tinged brown with a robust fruity nose and a hint of apple. Boozy up front with a rich malt finish. Very easy to drink. Benjii (3050) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 17, 2011
Bottle at Craigs. Pours a light brown- orange colour with no head. Strawberry jam, caramel and some sweetness on the nose. A little thin with some caramel and candy sugar flavours. A little dry, not amazing.
