Bottle from Rheged. Appearance - dark brown to black with a generous fluffy off white head. Some orange chinks around the side. Nose - creamy chocolate and some blackcurrant. Taste - blackcurrant definitely again. Creamy chocolate and a tiny hint of coffee on the finish. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry elegant finish. Nice slow taper on the end. Overall - a lovely beer especially considering the ABV.

Gravity at GBBF 2014. Poured a clear, dark ruby, with a dense off-white head. Aroma of toffee, dates and slight herbal notes. Grainy flavours, some straw and Oxo-esque meaty elements. Finish was salty, with some copper and lingering malt.

Cask conditioned at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Chestnut with off white head. There is a full maltiness from the off with this, quite fruity, a touch of sharpness but mostly rounded with a touch of nuttiness. Reasonable depth on the palate, not bad at all.
