COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available in 330ml bottles (bottle conditioned)
Previously known as Curious Brew Admiral Porter, from which the current version differs only by the inclusion of a small amoiunt of Goldings hops together with the Admiral.
This Porter has been brewed using crystal, chocolate, black and amber malts from floor malted Sussex barley. The bittering hop is Sussex grown Admiral with a small amount of Golding late hops. Matured with oak to give a delicate balance of sweetness and bitterness, this beer is bottle conditioned and unpasturised to preserve the extraordinary flavours. Contains barley malts.

An average porter true to the style, salty, sourish finish. Herbal, piney, bitter chocolate. TCP antiseptic? I struggled to finish this one.

330ml bottle pours a deep amber color with a small off-white head that leaves only a small trace of lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark fruits with hints of chocolate and roasted grains. Taste is a dark fruity and chocolate malty sweetness with some roasted grain bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A little on the thin side for the style, but otherwise, this is quite a nice brew, tasty and easy to drink.

330ml Bottle - Very dark brown, almost black in colour. Coffee, roasted malt, dried fruit and plain chocolate in the aroma. Roasted, chocolatey and malty taste with notes of coffee, liquorice and roasted malt standing out. Not bad at all.

330ml bottle Cotteridge Wines B30. An average beer taste-wise. The only flavour that comes through is chocolate. No oak detected.

Bottled 07/09/12. A cola black coloured beer with a dissipating grey head. A fairly roasty porter in the nose with hints of sweet fruit. There is coffee in the mouth with more fruitiness, Pretty nice.

Bottle. Cheers to Leighton for the generous pour. The pour’s deep brown with a medium tan head. The nose is rich milk chocolate, mild chili, some roasted coffee beans. The taste is sweet chocolate cake, lightly toasted grains, charred wood. Hints of espresso. The body’s a little bit watery. Overall, while perhaps a bit sweet, I did enjoy his beer. Approachable, nice.

330ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a medium head. Aroma is slightly sour, woody, coffee and dark fruits. Taste has woody coffee to start. Dark fruity coffee finish.

Deep mahogany to amber colour with a frothy off white head. Chocolate, caramel malt aroma. Smooth texture. Roasted malt flavour, sweet caramel and brown sugar rum finish.

330ml bottle (best before 12 Nov 2012) poured into a Westmalle chalice on 25 July 2012. Lovely deep dark ruby red body with an off-white/cream coloured head that soon turned into a wispy, thin nothingness. Pity about the head retension being so poor. Dark chocolate and burnt ground coffee in the nose and taste: the over roasted malts feel gives the brew a pleasant flavour but prevents the mouthfeel to be creamy or overly rich. OK, but not a beer i’ll seek out again.
