COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available in 330ml bottles (bottle conditioned)
Previously known as Curious Brew Admiral Porter, from which the current version differs only by the inclusion of a small amoiunt of Goldings hops together with the Admiral.
This Porter has been brewed using crystal, chocolate, black and amber malts from floor malted Sussex barley. The bittering hop is Sussex grown Admiral with a small amount of Golding late hops. Matured with oak to give a delicate balance of sweetness and bitterness, this beer is bottle conditioned and unpasturised to preserve the extraordinary flavours. Contains barley malts.

BlackHaddock (7956) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUL 25, 2012
330ml bottle (best before 12 Nov 2012) poured into a Westmalle chalice on 25 July 2012. Lovely deep dark ruby red body with an off-white/cream coloured head that soon turned into a wispy, thin nothingness. Pity about the head retension being so poor. Dark chocolate and burnt ground coffee in the nose and taste: the over roasted malts feel gives the brew a pleasant flavour but prevents the mouthfeel to be creamy or overly rich. OK, but not a beer i’ll seek out again.

a_cross (639) - Poole, Dorset, ENGLAND - JUL 14, 2012
UPDATED: OCT 18, 2012 Bottle; muddy brown, very thin brown head; smells like tannic red wine, very pleasant; tastes of lightly toasted malt, coffee, dark fruit and vanilla; slightly sweet; fairly light mouthfeel; dry malty finish; a half-decent porter that slipped down well without leaving a lasting impression.

erickok (6036) - Leuven, BELGIUM - MAY 12, 2012
Dark brown and clean body and creamy beige head. Toast, chocolate, caramel, rye grains. Dry but light body and taste, Fairly carbonated. Not very rich, even for the abv. Lacks behind the aroma. Disappointing to be honest. (33cl bottle)

ladnewton (2074) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 6, 2012
Bottle at Real Man Pizzeria, Clerkenwell, London on 6th January 2012. Dark ruby with thin off-white head. Fruity, spicy aroma, then very fruity and spicy in mouth with berry fruits and touches of chocolate. A citric but delicate tang on the tongue. Fresh fruit and roast malts in an aftertaste that’s both rewarding and refreshing with herby bitterness developing. Medium body and zingy mouthfeel. A good bottle.

planky84 (3494) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 27, 2011
Bottle from the Bitter End Offie, Bromley. Black pour with a light beige head. Coffee and chocolate aroma with a little smoke. Barely noticeable licorice and coffee flavours. Dry, light bitter finish. Love the description on the label, nothing like the contents inside unfortunately. Perhaps It’s because I foolishly neglected to drink it from a ’low goblet’ yes, that’ll be it, silly me.

Bottle from Waitrose and labelled as just ’Curious Porter’ and shared with my dad at home, consumed 08.12.11 Pours dark brwon with a head that I didn’t notice as it swiftly departed. Fruity and a touch toasty and roasty, malty and whilst not bad it is also nothing special. A6 A4 A6 P3 Ov12 3.1
