Bottle, Plano Beverage in Plano, TX. Pours a clear gold with white head, minimal retention. Aroma was of sweet malt and wet dog. Flavor is sweet with a hint of caramel malt with balanced hop. Palat is light-med. and high carbonation.....over all, not a bad beer.

Bottled 33cl. 4.8 ABV. It pours a golden beer with a white head. The nose is sweet with notes of corn, apples and onions. Sticky sweetness in the taste. Watery. Malty. Sweet finish.

Had in Peru on vacation. This was my favorite of the very small selection I had to choose from. It was a darker gold color than Pilsen and Cristal with a stronger malt flavor.

(Bottle). It was pretty surprising. Has a sweet malt aroma, with honey and grain notes. Pleasant flavor, malty, hoppy, and sweet, but weak in bitterness and body. If it was less watery this could be a lot better, because it’s not a bad macro, it’s totally above the rest of most South American macros.

I had Cusquena in the back of a Restaurant in Ollataytambo, Peru. We were finishing the second to last day of a 5 day trek to Machu Picchu. It was a cool way to wind down from a pretty arduous trek, we played cards in the back of the restaurant and drank Cusquena with a couple of folks from South Africa. Now that I’ve set the mood... Cusquena was light in body, but very refreshing and with a good malty flavor. It tasted more like a German lager than an American Macro Lager, possibly from munich malt? It also had a nice, noble hop aroma to it. I might have had a different experience with this beer because I drank it very close to where it is brewed. By the time we left, we plowed through quite a few of the big bottles, which we shared.

Light golden color with a hint of tan. Modest lid of 0ff-white bubbles. Grain and light wort aromas, along with hints of earth, corn and herbs. Grainy flavors in the beginning. Alcohol shows itself early in the middle and carries to the finish. Some woody bitterness near the finish along with some metal. Not very clean.

[email protected] Grainy and hoppy aroma. Yellow color, irregular white head, few lace. Light sweet, light bitter, grainy/malty. Medium body. Not bad, just uninteresting.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2008 [330ml bottle from Asda High Wycombe] 28/12/2007: Rather nice packaging - we’ve taken to calling it Peruvian Goldtop. Surprisingly deep amber for a lager, reminds me very much of Fosters. Otherwise just another average world lager really... nothing bad here, refreshing enough cold, but also nothing to make it stand out. This is one for the Budweiser crowd do drink and boast of their "exotic" tastes, without having strayed out of their comfort zone. Boring. 20/6/2008 re-rate: Enjoyed this much more on a second taste - perhaps I wasn’t in the mood the first time. A nice soft mouthfeel, strong taste of honey with grassy hops in the aftertaste. Ratings given are average of two tastes.
