3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at 2006 Fall Festival of Ales. An occasional IPA is enough for my palate, and this one fits the bill. Not overpowering on the hops. The toastiness in the malts balances the palate well. Very solid example of the style.
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2008 Draft. Amber body, small white head, citric hoppy nose with bready malt notes. Very refreshing citric body with decent malt backbone. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - NOV 4, 2007

On tap at Pizza Plant in Williamsville, NY. The beer is brewed specifically for the restaurant and it paired perfectly with the pizza/pub fare the place serves. When the beer was brought over to the table, it still had a small white head and the beers crisp smell was immediatly noticed. The ale had a very robust and full bodied taste, but it was still very drinkable. Their were light notes of citrus and some earthy woodsiness as well. However, these all took a back seat to the beers hoppy characteristics. Overall it was a very good beer and it was a perfect start to the night. Draught at The Pizza Plant, sampled from VeloVampire - Big hoppy nose, fruity and dry. The taste is a really nice hop blast, but far from overpowering. Grapefruity and piney off the top, then there’s an unusual earthy taste in the middle and towards the finish (not unpleasant). Fresh, well balanced hoppiness, and a little spicy. This actually reminded me somewhat of Mill Street’s Tankhouse Ale in Toronto.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2006 On tap at the Pizza Plant - HELP!!!! The pods are coming......A super solid IPA with aroma of hops and some malt in there - the body is robust and the taste is much the same, hops and some strange earthiness, almost soil-like. Good though. Neat finish. Aw man, I loved my pod. Sammy (12596) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 30, 2005

Draught at Pizza Plant, Williamsport, NY. Pours a clear dark copper with a small off-white head. Big aroma of fresh hops with a touch of fruity malt. The flavour, as the aroma would lead you to believe, is quite hoppy but not excessively -- it’s really tasty, well balanced and fresh. Smooth and clean palate. I wouldn’t bother if you aren’t a fan of hoppy beers but I am and I really liked it. HogTownHarry (7064) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - OCT 21, 2005
Draught. Shared with blankboy at Pizza Plant, Williamsport, NY. Poured clear amber-red with a small off-white head. Aroma was initially quite mild, but opened a lot on warming - fresh medium hops, some very light hints of lightly roast malt and woodiness. Taste - *there* are the hops - lots of resiny, fresh hops, with spruce and hardwood notes (I only sampled this one, and burped hops for half an hour). Mouthfeel astringent and lively - quite complex for a hops-only brew. I quite liked it, but it’s a one-noter - but I was intrigued by the woody nature of the hops, unusual to me, definitely not just cascade hops - must be the hot pepper, which I didn’t actually taste.
