On tap at Trion Tavern, thanks to Tyler for sharing his pint. Labeled "Cutters Pentagon Porter". Dark brown, dark red but clear color. Minimal head. Roast malt, coffee, hint of dark fruit in the aroma. Dark chocolate, some dark coffee. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation, lightly dry finish. Medium body. Moderate bitter taste. Light sweet. Solid porter. Smooth, easy-drinking, good complex flavor. Brigadier (3680) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - OCT 7, 2013

This is the same thing as the Pentagon Porter if you run across that during your beer travels. Under either name it is a fine porter that is within the normal bounds of the style. There are probably better ones even locally but this one is worth trying once.
Aroma / Appearance - An oily black base with slick legs and soft cocoa head attract the eye. Chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, and sweetness permeate the air. Balanced and smooth it grabs your attention without being assertive.
Flavor / Palate - Chocolate and a burst of ethanol form a passable initial impression. It gets better with time as the vanilla, espresso, and plum open up. The final fruity notes wrap up a robust experience. The flaw that makes it hard to finish is a hotness in the back of the throat. Otherwise with a little polish this could be as good as anything in the area.
