Shared bottle at the 25 ste Kempisch Bierfestival, Geel. Pours clear amber with no head at all. Aroma of dark malts, dark fruits,farmhouse. Taste is moderate sweet malty, caramel, lingering malty. Watery palate.

Pours rather clear blonde, good white head. Smell is bit yeasty. some hopnotes as well. Taste is bit bitter, very grainy, with intense yeastprofile. Aftertaste is pure belgian yeastyness ( overripe fruits ) . Ok beer, but I’m not the biggest fan of this intense belgian yeast myself.

Alengrin (5539) - BELGIUM - AUG 10, 2014
Medium strong amber ale taken over from the long-gone brewery Decoster in Gouy. Yellowish white, creamy, medium thick and medium stable head, colour a darkish, coppery amber, clear. Sweet and nutty aroma, cookie dough, cloves, overripe pears, hay, candi syrup, medlar, black pepper. Honeyish sweetness in the mouth, soft carbonation, then becoming more neutral, evolving into a nutty maltiness, bit doughy, yeasty, thin mouthfeel and little body, dry spicy finish. Not very subtle and a bit ’unclean’ taste but different, that’s for sure.

Bottled (from Deep copper colour with a mediumsized slightly off-white head that leaves some lace. Aroma is sweet caramel malts along with some raisins, plum and mild dark dry fruits. Flavour is sweet malts along with some caramel and mild fruityness. Also has some slight raisins as well as some mild burnt sugary notes.

Dark nut brown-amber color, small steady beige head. Dark malts, rye, dark fruits, soya sauce in the nose. Medium-bodied. Dark caramel malty, toffee, some raisins, soya sauce. Also slightly sour. Fizzy malta feeling in the aftertaste.

Clear dark red amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, dark fruit, plum, fruity sweet. Flavor is heavy sweet and light to moderate burnt caramel bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090820]

Very good darker beige head over dark brown beer with orange highlights. Creamy nose, moccha, something artificially sweet. Typical overly burnt & meaty Leroy yeast thumbprint (if I still doubted its origins...). Chicory, and more meaty as usual, especially in the finish. Sweetish undertones. Sharp burnt lingering flavour, medium bodied. Not my cup of moccha.
