Bottle. Pours a pitch black beer with a medium sized beige head on top. Aroma of rye whiskey, molasses, sugary malts, caramel. Flavor is quite sweet and chocolate, lots of bourbon and booze. All mixed in well balance, mildly balanced, a bit thin in mouthfeel and soft in carbonation. A very decent imperial stout, but not the most impressive.

Bottle thanks to Brian. Pours a dark brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong rye, wood, bourbon, roast. Thick body, chewy, roast, chocolate, rye, nice boozy finish, very nice.

650 mL bottle. Originally reviewed 11/24/2014.

Inky black. Khaki head. Thin collar.

Aroma is whiskey. Molasses. Deep fudge. Kinda boozy.

Taste is really fudgy. Boozy whiskey. Doesn’t scream rye, but whiskey in general. Molasses and a slightly sharp acidic woody finish.

Medium heavy body. Medium low carbonation.

It’s a sharp and intense beer. Maybe too intense for me to love it as much as other Cycle stouts.

Bottle @ home. Thanks, Jake. Black in color with a thin ring of khaki foam. Roasted malt and a lot of whiskey on the nose. Slight candied apple along with some acidic dark fruits. Does have a good chocolate flavor, but there’s a lot of green apple flavor. Kind of hot and alcoholic on the finish.

Bottle. Pours a deep bitter chocolate color with almost no head, decent carbonation. Aroma is raisins, sweet licorice, bitter chocolate, bourbon, brandy, milk chocolate, burnt sugar, almond, caramelized cherries. Taste is toasted marshmallow, chocolate truffle, brandy, prunes, caramel syrup, cacao nib, spicy rye whiskey heat. Syrupy mouthfeel with some prickly carbonation. Light to medium mouthfeel, quite oily. Sweet, dry, rich, and light at the same time. Intense and quite the experience.

Bottle shared by Brian at the house. Poured into large snifters. Jet black used motor oil with a slight mocha head. Aroma is beautiful deep rich chocolates, cocoa nibs, vanilla, whiskey barrel, roasted malts, and slight peanut butter. Taste is similar with the rich deep chocolates, creamy vanilla, hints of peanuts, whiskey barrel. Serious velvety mouth, beautiful chewy brownie finish with whiskey. Full body, light carbonation. Damn fine brew.

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pours pitch black with a petite, creamy, khaki head. The aroma is a crazy-enjoyable fusion of chocolate crème, fudge, whiskey and 85%-cacao dark chocolate. Full-bodied and velvety with soft carbonation. The bittersweet flavor is a mingling of singed caramel, liquor warmth, charcoal and fudge. Lengthy whiskey and chocolate crème finish. Big PROPS to ctipping for sharing this world class delight!

czar (9503) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 9, 2015
bottle shared by tom10101, thanks bro! pours unclear dark brown with a small light beige cap showing good retention and lacing. tasty sweetened caramelized nuts, bourbon, perfumey vanilla, lots of brown sugar and milk chocolate, lots of roastiness - hint of ashes. low carbonation, full body - sticky and cloying; sweet, hot and spicy finish. heavy sweet but still a nice sipper.
