Pours a black color with a brown head. Aroma is dark malt, brown sugar, caramel, and a hint of chocolate. Flavor is malty, caramel, and brown sugar. slimchill (1044) - Austin, Texas, USA - OCT 31, 2007
Draught. Lightly smokey-sweet malt nose. Deep cola-like brown with a thin patchy head. Balanced smoke and sweetness. Palate is almost too thin but just enough to support the flavor. henrikb (1263) - Aarhus, DENMARK - JUL 27, 2007
Very dark brown hazy body, light brown head, thick layer of laces; Warm malty nose, licorice malty aromas; Big carbonation in very fresh bitter body; Long finish with dark roasted malt aromas, bitter chocolaty sweet, balanced and pleasant. Theis (15152) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 4, 2007

Black color. Light aroma of roasted malt. The body is not strong enough; less smooth than the others, with some dry roasted malt. Low bitterness.
Draught at the brewpub: Malty, roasty aroma, sweet and aromatic. Nice creamy, brownish head. Black color, fine carbonation. Intensive malty but few sweetness. Notes of roasted malt and coffee. Fresh, light fruity and a quite astringent, dry finish. Pleasant, aromatic beer. imdownthepub (15000) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 29, 2006
On tap at The Pivovarsky Dum, Prague, Filtered, 500ml. Dark black with malty head. The beer of the evening in The Dum, full of flavour although dominated by a caramel sweetness with a hint of molasses and a toffee thickness on the tongue. Not overly strong but definitely enjoyable in a great brewpub. brewzenol (2) - USA - OCT 9, 2006 does not count
I really enjoyed Pivovarsky Dum -- especially this beer. We weren’t in Prague long, but we managed to visit Pivovarsky Dum twice. Mungo (2470) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - AUG 30, 2006
Draught @ Brewpub. More coffee than a lot off other tmavy’s. Slightly sweet caramelly nutty malts. But doesnt follow through on this in the thin finish. Remains quite drinkable. rlgk (18851) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUL 21, 2006
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2013 Draught at the brewpub. Pours almost black with a nice lasting brownish head. Roasted coffee aroma, caramel, soot, dark bread, dark chocolate, metal notes. Roasted coffee flavor, dark chocolate, soot, some hoppy bitterness. Quite nice.
Old rating from 2006: 2.8 Very dark amber, almost black, and with a great lasting brownish head. Malty, burnt aroma with some hops. Quite weak flavor, some hops, but not as much malt as I would have preferred.
