"Et godt juleøl brygges etter gamle oppskrifter og kjærlighet til godt øl. Siden 1856 har Dahl’s bryggeri brygget noen av sine beste øl til jul, og årets sterke juleøl vitner om at de gamle oppskriftene lever videre. Juleølet har mye sødme og fruktighet, med en dyp gyllen farge. Ølet har en fin fylde og aroma, og passer utmerket sammen med trønderske juleretter. God jul!

Editor’s note: 6.5% in 2009, different ABV’s other years. ABV is only listed in the name to make it obvious it’s different from the one at around 4.5% ABV.

Flaska från Vinmonopolet Centralstationen Oslo. Klar rödbrun med ett medelstort smutsvitt skum. Dofter och smaker av karamell, rostad malt och nöt. Nötig avslutning. Medel mot liten kropp. Rätt menlös.

0,33 l bottle from Vinmonpolet. 2015 edition. Aroma is malty, carameli, with hints of brown sugar and bread. The taste is sweet, malty, raisin and some alcohol. Juleøl (christmasbeers) is not my favourite kind, but of thoose from the bigger Norwegian breweries I think this is one of the better ones. Recommended for christmasbeers.

visionthing (5532) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - OCT 7, 2015
33cl bottle from Vinmonpolet Linderud, Oslo. Pours clear dark brown to copper coloures, with almost no head. Intense and dominating caramel aroma with some notes of dried fruits and alcohol. Very sweet and very caramellly, far from balanced and far from nice in my book. Carbonation is on the soft side and it feels like sticky caramel water in the mouth. No thanks!

12/25/2006 Bottle at Christmas in Oslo. A nice Vienna which smells a lot like red wine. It has a caramel and syrupy taste. My brother in law tasted 18 Juleols this season and said Dahls came out on tops. I think the Frydenland is also quite good.

Holmen2 (4031) - NORWAY - MAR 9, 2015

6.5% clear 330ml bottle. [email protected], 2014-January. Head with some red-brown notes in the beige foam. Brown-red body, clear. Scents mild roasted malts, wood, lingonberries. Tastes chocolate malts, syrup, grains, hops, caramels, hapå, hints of lingonberries. Something that reminds me of small christmas cookies. Nice to palate, alright bodied. Mild ending where chocolate tunes are fading out. Overall seems to be a quality yuletide beer.
