Bottle. Brown color with a quickly shrinking off-white head. The aroma is malty and lightly roasted, notes of fruit, dark bread, and some bitter hops. Malty taste with notes of nuts, dark bread, dried fruit, toffee, and yeast. Some mild bitterness in the finish.

Beautiful clear red amber color with great head. Hoppy and slightly bitter aftertaste. Avarage.

3.5
biz82 (1327) - austin, Texas, USA - MAR 6, 2008
Clear dark red, tan head. Fruity, nutty, musty caramel aroma with a hint of hops. Lightly sweet with mellow roasted malt flavor accompanied by sticky UK hops. Nice big body. Has a little astringency and the bitterness could be smoother but all in all a nice ale.

2.4
apoptosis (1317) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 25, 2006
Dark mahogany-brown body, with only a small head. Noteably low in alcohol. Musty, putrid aroma- very malty, but no real defining characteristics. Thin body with simply caramel and malts, no complexity at all. Sour, sweet finish.

3.2
mephisto (1294) - TAIWAN - MAY 17, 2006
simple brew. nothing fancy, just a typical british brown ale; but enjoyable.

3.6
JCW (1279) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 16, 2003
The one I am rating is old. Ruby red in color pours with a thick head. Smell like an ESB, fruity, malty and with Northern Brewer and/or KentGolding Hops. Tastes carmelly and bitter. Acidic finish. Good Beer!

3.4
