"אולד פפא" נקראת על שם גאון התלמוד רב פפא, אב לעשרה בנים, מיססד ישיבה גדולה בנראש ובשלן בירה הכי "הכי" בבבל העתיקה. ידועה בזכות ה"סודני" המפורסם שלו (בירה עם דבש תמרים), אנו מכבדים את זכרונו עם "אולד פפא". תוספות מועשרות של סילאן ישראלי מאוזנות עם שעורה וכשות איכותית, בדיוק כמו הבירה המקורית מלפני 1,700 שנים, הבירה החזקה ולא-מסוננת הזאת מעניקה איזון עדין בין המתוק והמריר, בין המעודן והמחוספס, בין העתיק והמודרני, ו- אם יורשה לנו - בין הארצי והשמיימי.

Bottle. Hazy ochre to brown body, medium white head. Aroma of honey, nuts, dates, spices, malts, must, figs, flowers. Taste is neutral with slightly sweet finish, spurish aftertaste. Honey, nuts, ripe fruits, figs, dates, malty. Medium to full body, moderately carbonated.
Unusual and very good.

Bottle shared at hotelroom tasting after Borefts Beer Festival Day 1. Murky orangy color, average sized off-white head. Smell and taste wheat, a hint of tea, a hint of caramelised sugar, caramel bitter and a distant hint of unripe apricot in the background. Decent body and carbonation. Not bad.

Sampled from 0.33 l bottle at Best Western Woerden. Slightly hazy, golden amber with a beige head. Sweetish, malty aroma of caramel, honey and some cellar notes. Sweetish, slightly malty and spicy taste of caramel, honey, some licorice root, followed by a short, moderately bitter, quite spicy finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Just okay.
