COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The coconut is an interesting little drupe. It’s origins, still up for debate, range from the Melanesia-India-Australian region to that of South America. A hardy fruit, the coconut has many uses in many of its different forms. From fibers pulled from its husks, to those briny coconut water drinks replacing nostalgia with adult juice boxes, to the aptly named “millionaires salad’ derived from eating the heart of the palm itself–the coconut is an embodiment of the concept of Kalpavriksha. Today we’ll focus on the Copra, the flesh of the coconut. Why? Because 30 lbs. of coconut copra was added to Dangerous Man’s Milk Stout. Yeah, Almond Joy has nothing on us. Toasted coconut copra lounging about. The coconut copra was lightly toasted leaving the milky-white speckled khaki and raw umber. Toasting the coconut helps to dry out the oily flesh and to enhance the coconut aroma we’ve all come to know and expect. Added to fermentor, the coconut copra has been lending the stout its flavor during fermentation. When yeast is added to hop-filled wort, a myriad of strange and fascinating process occur that give you the finished beer. This toasted coconut copra has joined the fray and will bring you a milk stout like no other.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2013 Tap at the brewpub. Yahtzee! This is spectacular. Jet black pour with a cream head. Toasted coconut and smooth roasted malts throughout. Not over-complicated, just features the good stuff. Best brew to date from this brewer.

Tap at the source with blonderedhead. 10 oz pour. Coffee black in color with tan head. Nose is roasty and malty with coffee and chocolate notes. Spectacular aroma. Taste is predominantly roasted malts with a coffee like bitterness offset by the coconut sugary sweetness. Alcohol makes its presence felt a little bit but not at the expense of the quality of flavor. Almost a slight dark fruit characteristic that gives way to a dark chocolate finish. Very delicious. I would put it a notch above the standard chocolate milk stout. Dangerous Man delivers yet again.

Black with a lacing head. Thick, smooth palate. Big coconut aroma and flavor, and the flavor also has the roasted malt of the milk stout. Full palate and full flavor. This is a great beer.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2013 Poured from a growler dated April 2nd. Pours a nice rich dark coffee color with a bit of a tan head that quickly fades. Aroma is coconut get some lactose sugar, nice coffee and chocolate balance as well. Taste is a bit of roasted coconut and chocolate, finishes with a light coffee bitter, body was a lot thinner than I expected. Just had it on tap and it has a much better body and coconut flavor is much more potent on tap, try it fresh!
