COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Pumpkin Ale contains 2-Row, Victory, Crystal 75L malts, along with Brown Candi, Lactose, and Dextrose sugars, and includes over 100 lbs of pumpkin! This beer is beast! Perfect for the chill that’s been striking the air and the creepiness ambient at the end of October. Additions of Allspice, ginger, clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg were added to the kettle to bring a very aromatic and pleasant spice note that blends in with rich malt and alcohol backbone. The New Zealand Motueka hop was added several times to bring about a very “noble” aroma that blends well with the spices.

Copper color with a small head. Strong nutmeg, ginger, and caramel aroma. Ginger, graham cracker and nutmeg flavor. Kind of overwhelming on the ginger. Dark caramel and bready malt notes. Alcohol is hidden. Finishes dry.

Tap at brewery with commonmac. Dark mahogany with small white head. Strong sweet pumpkin spice smell, mostly cinnamon. Very sweet, like a candy rapidly melting in your mouth. Cinnamon, rich, dark sugar. Boozy. Pretty different than most pumpkin beer. My expectations might have been too high for this.

Crowler. Dark orange with quickly fading head. Pumpkin pie filling, nutmeg, brown sugar and leafy aromas. Dry malty wine-like flavor with a light spice finish. Heavier body with a smooth feel.

Smells very strongly of cloves and tastes even more strongly of cloves. Taste of allspice and aromas are a bit overwhelming. It’s fine as pumpkin beers go but I’m not sure I’ll be having it again considering the other options on tap at Dangerous Man.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear deep amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has tons of vanilla and cinnamon with some clove and grain supporting. Flavor has lots of cinnamon, vanilla and clove with a bit of sweet grain and bread supporting.

Keg @ Dangerous Man. Clear deep russet color with a white head. Nose is pretty strong. Loads of allspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Brown bread. Flavor is similar. Pumpkin seasoning. Vanilla, cinnamon and clove. Medium body. A touch boozy. Prickly carb.

Tap at the brewpub. Mostly clear orange pour with a small soapy white head. Great rich pumpkin aroma, plus nutmeg and cinnamon. Full flavored without being cloying. Really well done!

Tap at Dangerous Man. Pour is orange with minimal head. Aroma is strong pumpkin, flavor is the same. The more I drank, the more overwhelming the pumpkin became. I do not like pumpkin beers, and this one was pretty good at first but the pumpkin came on too strong.
