Spicy right off the nose. Dark pitted fruits and old wine. Smoke, tobacco, and char. Rum in the back. Black cake.
Spicy, meaty, leathery, nutty, and pitty – dry mouth-parching tannins galore. Bakers chocolate, raisins, and black bread soaked in rum. Cigar leaf underneath. Burnt honeycomb.
This was a truly intriguing beer for me and ultimately I ended up liking it quite a lot. Rich, complex, parching, and almost of another time, an older time of Gentleman’s Clubs, cigars, and martinis. Unfortunately for all my readers out there, this beer is retired and no longer in production.

Bottle at thirdeye11’s birthday party. Brown with a white head. The aroma has a lot of caramel and toffee malt. The flavor is very similar. (750ml) cloudy deep amber, lasting creamy tan head. Nose of raisin, saccharin, dark fruit, cream. Taste of saccharin, raisin, graham cracker, not bad.

Sampling courtesy of friend Paul B. Poured at a good temperature with a nice, foamy, tan head that soon settles and no lace. Aroma is fairly mild with only slight whiffs of dark, ripe fruit, malt and some metallic notes (iron?). Flavor’s much like nose, with some bitterness and carbonic tang balancing a slight sweetness. Pours a brown color with an off-white head. Nose has sweet toasted malt base with light spice, dark fruits, toffee, and mild booze. There’s some hints of metal in there and a fair amount of bread. The flavor is better than the nose. Nice toffee, bread, and toasted malt sweetness. Some banana, dark fruit, and spice notes from the yeast, too. A hint of alcohol on the finish. Poured out of 750 mL bottle, thanks Aaron! Dark reddish brown pour with thin off white head, aroma has notes of mineral, some toffee, caramel, hints of biscuit, bread some slight anise, dark fruit notes. Bottle @ home, picked up at Funkwerks. JetsonFest II. Fairly clear, dark brown appearance with a light brown head. Candy sugar, dark fruity (plum, fig), molasses, caramel aroma. Thick candy sugar, dark caramel, molasses flavor with amount of fruity esters (plum, citrus, etc).
