Nose dominated by cask wood. Very pleasant and enjoyable. Rich mouthfeel and easy going. One of my favourite.

Deep, dark brown yet opaque, had a diminishing off white head, high aromas of malt and cask wood flavour characteristics matched along with some light spice went from sweet to a lingering earthy bitter, I found it to be a warming medium bodied ale. hawthorne00 (4111) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAR 18, 2017
Some clumpy gunge left in the bottle (from Wine Down, Carnegie). Dark brown - reddish against the light - with a beige head that lasts well but doesn’t leave much lace. Aroma of fudge, overripe grapes, smoked nuts, dried fruit. 8 Slightly creamy but somehow simultaneously a bit thin. Even nuttier in the taste - like spirit-soused marzipan - with vanilla and oak, dried fruit. Bitterness creeps up to meet the overt whisky notes at the end but it never feels like the beer is in the driver’s seat. But the whisky is good and it’s all very sympathetic. Interesting. from Erzbierschof - dark bornw beer, hazy with a persistent beige foam; very earthy nutty malty aroma; light spicy and smokey; medium to full-bodied, tasty and decently bitter; long caramelish and earthy finish with lingering smokey notes and hints of marzipan
