3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
DATE: June 18, 2017... OCCASION: Beer #2 at the Draught House on Father’s Day... GLASSWARE: Blue Point nonick... Nice dark black body with a ring of off-white head... lacing is a solid smear of afterthought... strong phenol fumes, with cola and slight peat involved--requires more than a few draws to discern its bent... sips a smooth cola, with a bit of bubble late... too drinkable, almost, begging swift sips... sweet, bold and malty as promised--the toasted malts give some dimension, but this comes across as a wayward bock more than a brown usually is... I find this one a reasonable dessertif, but not a memorable one, too much of a dark cola version of Zima or other such fare.. the company made its finish worthwhile...
Draft at Beltway Brewing Company. Poured a hazy brown color with a light white head. A little thin, a little more nutty character would go well in this. Light milk chocolate. Okay. jflopsu (1862) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JAN 8, 2017
Pours a hazy brown with light white head. A chocolate and roasted malt aroma. A strong roasted malt, chocolate and smokey taste. A lingering smokey and dry malt aftertaste. dmac (6646) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - DEC 31, 2016
Draft at Mellow Mushroom. Poured a deep brown with a smaller bubbly off white head. Aroma of dry chocolate powder, brown toast, grains, bread crusts. Flavor isn’t as chocolatey as the aroma, more of a dry chocolate malts plus medium toast and brown paper bag. Medium mouthfeel with softer carbonation. Sample at GABF 10/08/2016, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Dark brown color with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lace. Roast malt, caramel and hops aroma. Light to medium body with flavors of toasted malt, chocolate and mild coffee. The finish is sweet with a cocoa and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Can. Pours out a darker cola color with a small off white head. Aroma is of chocolate, some charred malt, light smoke, some mild coffee, light Earth and some bitterness. Taste is solid, pretty complex for a brown. Chocolate, some sweet cocoa, charred earth, soil, some coffee grounds and mild bitterness. Overall a really solid brown. Can from a trade. Kind of gushed. Huge head that dies quickly. Nose is lightly burned toast. A little phenolic. Taste is better and not indicating any brewing flaws. Just kind of ok though. Not very complex or sweet. Decent. ben4321 (6901) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - OCT 1, 2016

Poured at brewery a nice brown with thin tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, slightly burnt toast, chocolate. Taste was more on the chocolate side with plenty of roasted malts and a slight fig note. A very solid brown maybe my fav from DCBC so far. jtclockwork (17770) - , New Jersey, USA - JUL 20, 2016
