355mL red wax thanks to ryan. Pours flat, clear amber. No lace. No head. Minty, American barleywine nose with sugary strawberry tea. Taste is bitter up front moving to maple and mild mint with a long, bitter, earthen finish. Palate is thicker, tangy, minty, mild powder. Good stuff. Big orange mint and strawberry.

Bottle shared by motortoddhead. Big ups for knockin’ this one off my wants list! Deep, red hued amber with minimal off-white head. Huge dark fruit punch, raisins, toasted malt, skunked hops, mild booze, and red wine/acidic tinge at the end. Big dark fruit, brandy soaked raisin, caramel, toasted malt, booze and skunky/earthy hop bitterness at the end. Malt/booze tang dominates the palate with sticky malt hanging on to the end. This was pretty good and pretty surprising.
This beer had a really good blend of hop , fruit and alcohol. I was really surprised how flavorful and enjoyable it was. Thorpe429 (5122) - , Illinois, USA - APR 13, 2011
Reviewed from notes.
Poured into a snifter. Color is a moderate caramel-copper color with some orange notes. Small white head that quickly dissipates into nothing. Nose is pretty strong booze with good notes of caramel, sweet malt, and fruit. The taste is a bit boozy, though not terribly so given the ABV. Good fruit presence. The feel is where the booze gets it, as it’s hot even for its alcohol level. Drinks fairly well, but probably needs to rest for a long time.

Bottle kindly sent from Styles - thanks man! Muddy, raisin-brown in the glass with no head and initially healthy carbonation fading to a slow ebb of bubbles. Aroma is big, English barley wine with caramel, raisin/date, cherry, caramel, smoke, toffee, and sherry. Light oxidization with a heavy raisin, cherry, caramel flavor and a smooth slight alcohol finish. Big, thick, and enjoyable beer. nickd717 (4886) - San Francisco, California, USA - JAN 23, 2011
12oz bottle dated May 2008. Pours a brilliant clear reddish-amber color with a small but lasting light khaki head. Great malty aroma of caramel, toffee, molasses, and brown sugar. The flavor is really awesome. Huge toffeeish malts, rather English-style tasting, with brown sugar, marzipan, amaretto, maple syrup, and some faded hop resins. Sweet but great. Not too heavy on the palate with softer carbonation. Great barleywine, and it seems the age has treated it well. Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 3, 2010

How: Bottle 12oz. Consumed when over 1 year of age (2 years?). Bottle sent to me by dmschefke. Thanks a lot Dave.
The look: Cloudy purple body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Strong nose of figs, dates, toffee. Smells a bit like a bit like a cranked up dark English Strong Ale. Taste is full of red liquorice, barley candy, sherry, raisins, toffee, cherry tree, tobacco, dark fruits, bitter orange peels, caramel. What’s really amazing about this one is that it did not feel very sweet or very boozy at all. Probably one of the less boozy (maybe THE less boozy) 12%+ beer I’ve ever had. I have a hard time to believe this is 15%. I had a buzz after my bottle so maybe it is indeed 15%. Wow, unreal. Body is not quite as big as I love from a big beer. I don’t understand why they don’t brew that more often or why they don’t put an “s” after Guy.
Bottle thanks to Styles. Pours reddish brown. Nose and taste of booze, dark fruits, molasses and brown sugar. Alcohol is really strong on the palate initially, but gives way to strong notes of raisin and prune in the finish. MrPickles (571) - Waunakee, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 18, 2010
This one was good for me, but in a strange way. I could not put my finger on any particular flavor, but they all went together ok. Again not off the charts but a solid offering. I would drink again, but I would not run out to buy.
