This is a monster of a beer. Rich, flavorful and warming. I drank this on a warm day and still enjoyed it, but it would be better enjoyed on a cold, winter's day. Pours out to a dark ruby in the glass. Aroma is that of raisins, plums and fruit in general. Taste is explosive, but not overwhelming. Malt, hops and even a slight hint of licorice present. A very good beer.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of over ripe fruits, caramel and roasted malt. Taste of raisins, dates, hops and light alcohol. Finish is warming and flavorful. Very nicely done barleywine! Ofortuna (322) - Grafton, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 2, 2008
Pours a nice head that’s surprising considering the alcohol content. Huge aromas of kettle caramelization, cream sherry and old vine zin. Flavour much of the same with a bit of bitterness and fusel on the finish. Intense amount of caramel and sticky sweet candied fruit. Quite a bit of viscosity here. Half the bottle would’ve been more than enough for myself. Just a bit young and I’m sure this improves greatly with age. lampeno420 (320) - Zeeland, Michigan, USA - SEP 8, 2007

Aroma of fruits, not citrus. Flavor is of sweet malt and fruits with some caramel. Nice beer

Almost purplish red color with almost no head, thin white ring. Nice big malts on the nose, mild slightly medicinal cherry, balanced alcohol aomas. Malty cherry flavor, caramel, maple syrup, mild vanilla somewhat woody, slight bitterness almost grapefruit resiny rounds out the finish. Petty syrupy body with very little carbonation. Really enjoying this, cant wait till it ages a bit. Cbuk1013 (247) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - APR 18, 2013
I wish they’d make this again! Pours dark amber and cloudy, sherry notes and complex full flavored yet smooth. Medium hoppy, well masked alcohol.
Great beer. soccer290 (225) - Highland Park, Illinois, USA - MAY 14, 2009
12 oz bottle, aged about a year. Was very excited to acquire this through trade (I believe) with General66. I figured a year would be enough to make it not hot, but I was wrong. Pours a beautiful reddish brown color with the typical DH little head that dies quickly. Smells of a ton of caramel, some yeast, a little bit of dried fruit, and A LOT of alcohol. Scared me a bit with how much alcohol was on the smell. The taste however was a little more tame, but still not for the timid. Goes down fairly smoothly, with a nice caramel and vanilla aftertaste. Overall a very nice barley wine, but has too much heat. Would be interesting to age for about 3-4 years, then try again. lukin013 (215) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JAN 25, 2007
Bottle thanks to hopdog. Dark amber body. Aroma and flavor were very sweet of brown sugar and dark dried fruits. Perhaps it needs to age but it seemed way too hot for me. Finish had a very whiskey-like feel to it... way too harsh. It could have potential if it hid the alcohol better.
