Vintage 2011, thanks Jamie!
pours a dark, inky black ale with just a little bit of mocha rim. No lace. Aroma bursts from the bottle with cocoa, cake batter, caramel, oak, bourbon, bourbon...did I mention bourbon?
Taste follows suit with cocoa, cake, vanilla, caramels, hints of tannin, praline and even a little bit of....bourbon! I can’t believe this beer is 14%, it is sooo well hidden, insane. Really lovely flavor.
Mouthfeel is liquid oil. Really smooth with full body and low carb. Im really impressed with this beer overall. Wish I had more of theses puppies. Damn fine brew.

2012 vintage served from a 12 oz bottle. Via trade with audiovivid. The appearance is a midnight brown with a super thin deep brown head. The aromas are oaky bourbon , oatmeal, and molten chocolate. Flavors enter full of malts and creamy oatmeal. Heavy oak and some alcohol in the middle with a hint of light oxidation before leading to a nice long chocolaty bourbon finish. Nice well carbonated mouth. Love the bourbon and chocolate dance in this brew. Very well done and delicious!

Sampled at FoBAB2013. Pours oily and black, with a tan head. Aroma of strong bourbon, big chocolate, coffee, and roast notes. Some vanilla, some caramel, some wood and oaky notes. Flavor is big, boozy, thick. Tons of bourbon soaked roasted malts, lots of coffee, vanilla. Somewhat creamy, somewhat syrupy, lots of molasses, roasted malts. This is just exhausting on the palate. Kind of incredible mouthfeel, like the first time I had Dark Lord. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - NOV 21, 2013
Bottle: thanks to Jeff for my first bottle of this. Black hole black, thick pour, insanely dark, tan head with tiny bubbles forms slowly on top. Looks like 5W-20 that was due for a change 5,000 miles ago. Aroma is mind-blowing with the most smooth bourbon & oak character I’ve encountered. Heavy fudge & cocoa beans, vanilla, light coconut, smooth bourbon, wet oak & wood, deeply roasted malts, brown sugar, & a creamy coffee undertone. Distinct, wonderful, complex... The taste is no different. Creamy, smooth mouth feel with light syrup & sweet molasses up front. Warming bourbon comes through big, but is literally the smoothest induction of bourbon into a beer that I’ve tasted. Oak, vanilla, faint nuttiness, dark fudge, bittersweet cocoa, a touch of ripe dates, roasted coffee, a mild milkiness, & a good amount of brown sugar. Bourbon, oak, chocolate, brown sugar, & coffee in a lovely, mouth coating finish. The best bourbon barrel aged beer I’ve had, bar none. This is how it’s done, folks. Jet black color with brown head. Aroma smells of roasty chocolate. It is very smooth going down where you can taste the same with hints of bourbon. Very enjoyable. burg326 (5482) - Florida, USA - NOV 2, 2013
12 ounce bottle poured a dark black color with aromas of chocolate, roast, bourbon, some oak, and light vanilla. Flavors are the same, rich chocolate, and bourbons fudge, a solid beer overall, glad I got terry this one.
