tmoreau (4981) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAR 16, 2018
On tap at The Beer Cellar in Glen Ellyn, IL. dispensed to a snifter showing a lightly ruby highlighted, black/brown hue, a bubbly layer of tan fluff that reduced a bit, but remained persistent, with dots & dashes of lacing. The nose was roasted, malty, earthy, treacle, with lesser mocha notes. Medium+ bodied, with fair to low carbonation, the taste was similar, with some added toffee influence, dark caramel & vanilla sweetness, pleasantly incorporated bourbon, and roasted, earthy, and slightly tannic bitterness. Smooth & tasty.

Sampled from the tap at 7 Monks. Pours black with a deep brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has roasted malts and vanilla with a very dark chocolate note supporting. Flavor has dark grains, roasted malts and vanilla wafers with a great German chocolate note.

Draft at 4elf. The pour is black with a frothy brown head. The aroma is pure chocolate. The taste is full of chocolate and a mouthful, feels like I am chewing this beer. The bourbon is subtle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
