Sample at the Troegs and Dark Horse tasting at Blacklick Wine and Spirits on 6/5/09. Pours a cloudy amber with a thin tan head. Citrus and pine hop aroma with a touch of malt. Earthy hops on the tongue with some citrus presence and a subtle malt balance. grobeen (25) - , Illinois, USA - JUN 7, 2009
UPDATED: JUN 15, 2009 Great beer, with a nice floral head and deep, bitter flavor - great mouthfull. Overall, very well balanced with super drinkability. Near the top of my list for IPAs!! hayduke (5203) - Eureka, California, USA - MAY 31, 2009
From a 12 bottle obtained in a trade with Erik of Indiana, this poured a cloudy orange with a moderate white head and good lacing. Nose of citrus, pine, and floral hops. Lively but smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is caramel malts and the bitterness of hops, with a long bitter finish. Solid IPA. bluemooner (657) - East Bethel, Minnesota, USA - MAY 22, 2009
Pours a hazy, opaque, dark orange with a medium, foamy white head and some lacing. Standard IPA aroma of hops, citrus, with some grapefruit. Flavor is a lot of hops, citrus, pine, grapefruit, malts, and a little dry. Very good IPA.

Appearance – Wow… pours a amber yellow color but in the glass this baby is pure unfiltered thick dark orange. Has a frothy creamy colored off white head about 2 and a half fingers large. As the head recedes ever so slowly it leaves quite a show of lace behind. This looks like a hefe, and it looks quite inviting right now.
Smell – citrus, pine, floral hops, and a nice healthy malty finish in the nose.
Taste – The carbonation hits you hard, in a good way. This has the “zing” I love! Although the hops seem a bit subdued in this, but that may be because it tastes like it is very balanced. That malty finish in the nose comes through as well in the taste; really helps to round this one out. If anything stood out more than the other in this, I would say it has a stronger floral or earthy pine taste to it above all, especially on the tongue a bit after taking a sip.
Mouthfeel – Nice and thin, not too resiny feeling. This doesn’t leave a lasting taste or feeling in your mouth, and on a hot day like today, this is very much a welcome attribute in a beer.
Drinkability – This is a great drinker, I can sip it or I can take some big swigs, depends on how much of that “zing” I want to hit me. Great beer, wish I could get it over here. jkwalking05 (4735) - Arlington, Texas, USA - MAY 18, 2009

Bottle from dakine. Thanks! Pours a very hazy orange golden with a small white head. Nose of citrus, peach, earth, sweet malts, mild diacetyl. Flavor is somewhat off- ethan says peanut shell- whatever it is it doesn’t taste very fresh. It’s okay overall, but I remember the double version tasting much better. travita (5003) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAY 11, 2009
Cloudy, muddy look. Amber colored beer. Off white head. The smell is hops, pine, caramel, and citrus. The taste is hops, bitterness, citrus, pine, and caramel. foundmd (210) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 7, 2009
12oz bottle. Pours cloudy ruby orange with a medium white head. Pleasant aroma of citrus and hops. Initial sips reveal one-note flavors of bittering hops with pine. After the palate gets used to the bitterness, the balancing flavors of citrus and malt come through. Thin on the palate and maybe a bit too watery. Aftertaste is long and bitter. Overall a nice drinkable IPA.
