Bottle from CBC Newton, drunk 8/30/15.dwm1034 (786) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 19, 2015
Chunky, drab olive-copper with a beige head that is medium-sized and quickly dissipating.
Fruity (apples, cherries, oranges) hop notes in the nose give way to lightly dirty (yeast?) notes, with light caramel and brown bread maltiness. There’s some light pine, typical orange rind/grapefruit character and not much, if any brightness.
I don’t know if this bottle is just old? I would expect Craft Beer Cellar to keep fresh bottles on hand, but I guess you never know....Lemon-lime citrus with a hard, crystal malt-like texture, scratchy brown bread graininess and loose/low carbonation. Tons of dirtiness/dullness and not a whole lot to get excited about here. Maybe some diacetyl as well? Again, it’s hard to feel too bad for breweries that don’t date their hoppy beers.
More bottles from Chris N’s Michigan beer tour...THANKS!
Pours a foggy orange with thicker persistent head. Nose and inital taste is a bitter but enjoyable hoppy touch. Nice aftertaste...wish I had more! b3shine (9025) - Indiana, USA - AUG 6, 2015
Draft to taster. Looks solid; malty though. A very hazy pale burnt orange with off-white head. Smells of caramel with notes of bitter and piney hops in the background. Tastes like it smells, but more bitter than piney, with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Not bad, but underwhelming. jmohno (1641) - Iowa, USA - AUG 2, 2015
Pours a light amber with inch head, good lace. Aroma is herbal and almost medicinal, candy toffee malt. Beef jerky soy sauce old hop/poor storage. Bottle conditioned yeast floaties.Powdery resin. Taste has some bite to it, carbonic, citric. Peppery herbal hop character. Resiony finish. Dry toffee mild sweetness. Some citrus but mainly herbal peppery, kind of medicinal though, with beef jerky soy sauce-- vegetable dms?. Drank this slightly cool, I will have to try this again, Ill have to leave the yeast next time. fidelis83 (2481) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - JUL 30, 2015
Cloudy dark orange to dark amber pour with a two finger, creamy white head. Aroma is sweet citrus, fruity floral, caramel, light toffee, doughy bread, biscuit, melon and sweet floral. Flavor is citrus, sharp doughy bread, toasty grain, melon, light passion fruit, light toasted bread, fruity-citrusy floral and light woody pine. Medium body, dry entry; medium, very sharp carbonation, dry, slightly syrupy finish with a substantial hop acid bite. Good stuff overall, quite sharp in the AA department.

This is the second of these single hop Crooked Trees I’ve had and neither has been as good as just Crooked Tree. This is a very cloudy and dark orange brew with just a few whisps of foamy head. The Falconer’s Flight hop seems very mild in the nose but the full body of this beer and a touch of sweetness lend it a nice juicy orange character once tasted. This is a solid IPA, nothing overwhelming. I like this better than the Apollo one because the sweetness here comes of as more pleasant rather than heavy. alexsdad06 (10589) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JUL 13, 2015
12 oz. bottle from notes. Pours a hazy amber color with white floaties throughout. The medium off white head was mostly lasting and left a coating on the glass. The aroma was caramel, orange citrus, herbal and light floral hops. The flavor has moderate bitterness, orange citrus, mild floral notes, moderate spicy hops, caramel . Medium to medium-full bodied that goes down smoothly. I get the floaties in many of their Crooked Tree IPAs. Mr_Abner (386) - Michigan, USA - JUL 12, 2015
Bottle. Pours a hazy, dark orange-amber, flecks of yeast in suspension; off-white head. Aromas of tropical fruit, caramel malt, some alcohol. Tastes similar. Tastes similar with a heavier malt flavor than I would prefer. Moderately bitter. Medium bodied, average carbonation, bitter finish. Inbreak (6326) - Loddefjord, NORWAY - JUL 12, 2015
