Draft to pint at Cappy’s pour lightly hazy dark gold with thin white head. Nose tart cherry, light Belgian ester, sweet spices. Taste starts with the sweeter Belgian flavors, fruit, light stone fruit, then nice spice. Mid palate to late getting some of the cherry. Light spicy finish. Sample at The Brew Kettle on 2/28/16. Hazy orange pour with a thick off-white head. Aroma of malt, banana esters and cherry. Malty flavor with cherry tartness before a sweet banana finish. alexsdad06 (10640) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - DEC 24, 2015
Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Pours a hazy orange golden with a splash of pink and a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, honey, sweeter cherry character, some skins to the finish, additional fruit character, spicy Belgian yeast, interesting enough. koleminer20 (3840) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - NOV 5, 2015
On draft at the special taproom at Dark Horse on November 1. The pour is a nice coppery amber with a thin film of off white head and some soapy lace. The aroma is strong Belgian tendencies just like the Sapient. There is a light cherry, but dominating yeast and malts. The flavor is more palatable than the Sapient. The cherry makes it doable. It’s not bad. There is a strong malt and yeast that is well balanced by the cherry. The mouth feel is thin and lighter with a nice carbonation and a lingeringly malty, lightly cherry induced flavor. Better than regular Sapient for sure!

Aroma is Belgian yeast, tart cherries, clove and banana. Appearance is golden amber, off white head. Taste is banana, clove, tart skins, cherry, decent. Mouthfeel is crisp, light body and medium carbonation. Overall, better than regular, still not great. Jethro6191 (508) - Indiana, USA - OCT 11, 2015
Pours a super cloudy auburn color with a bright white wispy head. Barnyard, sour cherries, and alcohol aromas. Funky Belgian yeast and sour/tart cherries in the flavor. The high abv is evident. Overall this was enjoyable, the cherry flavor was not dominant, but added a nice touch. paintedmaple (671) - People’s Republic of Bloomington, Indiana, USA - SEP 9, 2015
Tap...hazy pink pour with a creamy head. Nose of cherries, yeast, and hops leads to a big spicy, fruity, sweet-tart, bready taste that is also very easy drinking. Liked this better the the regular Sapient Tripal. Bacterial (3040) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - OCT 11, 2013
Draft at Stub & Herb’s. Hazy orange with a subtle pink hue pour with just a tiny amount of white head. Straight Belgian nose. Subtle cherry in the taste, working with the spicy Belgian yeast. chinchill (5226) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 16, 2013
Served at Appalachian Vinters in Asheville, NC. (from Sept. 2012 notes)
Lightly hazy amber with a medium size, off-white head. Head has moderate retention but leaves some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is nicely fruity with a definite cherry component but other vague fruity notes as well. Likewise, the cherry has a clear presence in the flavor but there are also notes of apricot, banana, and some vague, probably yeasty, fruitiness. Clove in the finish. Bready malt base lies in the background. Lighly sweet upfront, lightly bitter at the finish, with a substantial tartness throughout. Aftertaste is this beer’s weak spot.
M: Medium body and carbonation; lightly dry on the finish.
O: interesting and complex variant of a tripel. The substantial fruitiness makes this seem more like a fruit beer than a tripel.
