Brown liquid with a hint of orange when held to the light. Moderate sized light tan colored head. Sweet grainy scents, with some dark corn syrup and sorghum. Smells a bit more like a hearty brown ale than a clean Oktoberfest. Sweet flavors from the start with some prunes and dark fruit. Herbal/woody bitterness. Not much of an Oktoberfest and too sweet and nearly cloying to be a crisp fall quaff.

12oz bottle pours a clear dark amber/brown with a large khaki head. Aroma is very fruity berries, strawberries and raspberries, with underlying caramel and toffee malt. Very fruity flavors similar to aroma with caramel and toffee malts light hop and yeast on the finish.

Twelve ounce bottle from Party Town, tasted on September 29, 2017. Dark amber color, good toasted malt aroma, pungent malty taste--maybe a bit too pungent but a good beer overall. Not quite worth the $11.99 six pack price but relatively few beers are.

On tap at Ellyn's Tap & Grill in Glen Ellyn, IL. served as a 5 oz. taster showing a clear, brown/amber color, with a presentable layer of light tan froth that reduced to a persistent ring, with ribbons & spots of lacing. The nose was toasted, almost roasted, touches of cocoa & vanilla, and caramel & toffee sweetness. The taste was similar, better than medium bodied, with good carbonation, a roasted & earthy bitterness that lingered, and slightly parched on the finish. Not so much a Marzen, but I appreciated the subtle warmth and bold nature.

Nice, not true to style, more of an amber, and possibly an ale, don't get that crispness out of it. Seems to use the german malt, recognize the taste from a couple locals that claim to use German 2 row malt. But anyways it is quite delicious no off taste, just don't expect it to remind you of a German Oktoberfest. Appearance is dark reddish, thick head, some retention, some thick lace.

Bottle from Beers of the World. Nice caramel and toffee malt aromas. Sweet taste.

Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is roasted grain, almost chocolatey, tobacco, earthy hop, very different. Appearance is brown amber, light tan head, decently hazy, considering the style. Taste is robust roasted grain, earthy hop, slight fruit, floral, not caramel or anything like that but really just mostly a roasted taste. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light crisp carbonation, robust grainy floral earthy aftertaste. Overall, this is quite strange for the style. A lot of flavor, but I am not sure it is the right flavor.

On draft at Dan's Downtown Tavern. The pour is a darker golden orange with a thicker light tan head and a pretty good lace as it recedes. The aroma is interesting. There is a strong malt and a decent caramel with a strong metallic sweetness. The malts are surprising. There isn't a lot else aside from the malt, sweet caramel, and a hint of metallic malts. The flavor is much of the same. The sweetness is big with a light maltiness and a sweet caramel with the light metallic sweetness on the back end. This just isn't that great. The mouth feel is lighter with a bright-ish carbonation and a lingeringly sweet malt and hint of caramel on the back end. This just isn't what I'm hoping to see. 6 4 7 4 14

Good American marzen, with deep veins of caramel and toffee swirling around mild apple and tea-like undertones and a firm but restrained hop finish. Caramel apple nose, pretty red-brown pour with a moderate head and minor lacing. Creamy texture makes for easy sippin’.
