3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rated 3/20/13. 12 oz bottle into a Duvel tulip.
A: Pours a black color; the pour itself looks quite dark and viscous. The head is a one finger light tan shade. It fades relatively quickly, leaving only minute lacing on the glass.
S: I definitely get a decent amount of oats on the nose, backed by a ton of roasted barley. Hints of chocolate, vanilla, and licorice are also present. Good, if muted.
T: There’s a mild smoked quality to the opening flavors that I find intriguing. Afterwards, it develops a dominant note of licorice with tones of coffee and vanilla on the finish. Moderately enjoyable, but the flavors could use more singular distinctness; they all seem to blend together.
M: This one is surprisingly heavy on the palate, backed by a good silky smoothness and tons of lingering flavor. If someone called this an imperial stout, I wouldn’t think twice either way. Despite the score, I really love the texture here - but the problem is, it doesn’t match up with the mellow flavors particularly well, so I can’t give a great score here.
O: Nothing amazing, but it’s a solid offering. It kind of reminds me of a mediocre imperial stout, and that’s actually a compliment in this case.
Aromat silny czekoladowo kakaowy. w smaku pelnotluste mleko z kakaem. Czekolada na deser pelnomleczna. Minimalna centymetrowa brazowa piana, barwa nieprzezroczysta czarna.
Bottled 355ml. -Pitch black coloured, medium sized brown head, chocolate in the nose. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, light roasted coffee, notes of licorice and dry bitter chocolate finish. Great aroma but a bit too weak palate, never mind this is really really good stout. nutjes (959) - Heestert-Zwevegem, BELGIUM - JUN 27, 2017

Chocolade en donker fruit. M: Medium body met lichte carbonatie. Niet sticky, jammer. chinchill (5025) - South Carolina, USA - MAY 3, 2017
12 oz bottle with minimal sediment on the bottom. Pours near black with a thin , weak head.
Very appealing aroma with a flavor to match, almost. Both have exceptional balance. Remarkably well hidden alcohol, Very smooth, full body. Strong roasted grain aftertaste. mike_77 (6673) - Breda, NETHERLANDS - APR 7, 2017

Pretty good.. Dark brown head. Slightly bitter. Not as creamy as most sweet stouts. 90 (462) - BELGIUM - FEB 24, 2017
Dit is het soort stout waar ik echt van hou. Mooie chocolade koffie geur. De smaak biedt dezelfde koffie en volle chocolade met een romig mondgevoel. Voldoende zuren en bitters. sjogro (4172) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - DEC 21, 2016
Bottle shared at home. Black with tan head. Sweet roasted choco malts, something almost burnt, big choc, toffee, taffee, coffee, rye. Softened by oats. Smooth. Sweet and light bitter. Over medium body and soft carbonation. Nice silky rich stout. Maakun (5589) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - DEC 21, 2016
Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Black with brown head that doesn’t last very long and leaves a thick film. Quite some roasted notes with ash, coffee, dark chocolate and burnt caramel. Also some vanilla cookies, marzipan, light sweet red berries. Taste is over medium sweet balanced with quite some roasted bitterness. Over medium bodied with creamy feel.
