This "special version" is very similar to the original BAPt5 but slightly hotter. Still a very good beer though. Art (3217) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 1, 2015
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2015 Bottle shared by charule. Pours dark brown black. Aroma of dark fruits and light vanilla. Taste is sweet. Definitely the thick dark horse mouthfeel. Not sure how this is different than the BA 5th. charule (2273) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 1, 2015

Pours black, brown head. Not much of it. Aroma is softly boozy, nice dark fruit mixed with a bit of bourbon kick. Warming. Taste is also similar, full flavour profile. Bourbon really working nicely, feels balanced and enjoyable. Beautiful sipping beer.

Dark brown color. Big caramel, nuts and chocolate sweet nose with hints of bourbon. Big bourbon, nutty, tons of milk chocolate, very big rich succulent. Tons of bourbon and nuts in the finish. Super smooth body. Alcohol so well hidden. Just a fantastic fantastic BA beer. jc1762 (1485) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 24, 2015
Thanks to TimE for sharing the bottle! Been chasing this whale for a long time (Seriously, I could kiss this man)
Poured into a taster showing opaque dark center with thin coffee rims and an immediately dissipating fizzle of latte foam.
The nose shows sweet caramel and light whiskey notes.
The palate is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The palate shows a strong alcohol bite/spice throughout. Flavors of sweet vanilla oak, notes of biscuit, and sweet dark caramel. Dark spicy whiskey notes throughout and on the linger in the finish. jbeatty (1253) - New York, USA - MAY 13, 2015
Bottle, 05/13/2015. Pours black, medium sized tan head fades quickly a a few wisps on the surface. Aroma of dark chocolate brownie batter, vanilla and fruity caramel accents, soft bourbon. Taste is bright fruit and dark chocolate with sharp roast in the middle, vanilla bourbon aftertaste. Medium body, not as thick as expected but smooth. Enjoyed this one. koleminer20 (3704) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - MAR 30, 2015
12 oz bottle shared with Spencer. The pour is a viscous oily black with a dark khaki head and some sporadic lace on the glass. The aroma is great. Lots of dark fruits and bourbon and oak and there is a mild vanilla addition. I like the heat on the back end. The flavor is great. There is an oaky bourbon to it and then a nice roast moves through backing up with a nice chocolate note. The vanilla is reserved here. The mouth feel is where it's most notably different from regular BBPt5. The mouth feel is light. The carbonation tries to help it come off as velvety and viscous. But it doesn't do well. The aftertaste is really good and I love the lingering roasty dryness.
