4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Outstanding! Great to have a coffee beer that is not a porter or stout. Dark Horse is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Nice, deep, dark roasty nose. Light and bouncy on the palate with a black coffee impact (give me this on a Friday night after a long week and I can go for hours!).
Hazy dark amber color with light brown head. Aroma is really malty with a bit of caramel and coffee notes. Taste starts also malty with a bit of coffee but it’s not a pleasant coffee taste, it’s somehow bitter and stale. Slightly on the sweet side, just slightly roasty and bitter on the finish. Body is quite light and effervescent and the alcohol is quite present. Not bad but not really my type of beer. pivnizub (10912) - Bochum, GERMANY - JUL 18, 2015
Lahev: Cloudy, amber coloured, smaller lacy off-white head; solid coffeeish and roasty nose, nutty and caramelly, too, accompanied by tannic and port-vinous aromas; dryish bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied, quite soft; lingering - again - dryish coffeeish and vinous and bitter-malty finish. Very, very good… motelpogo (8031) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - JUL 17, 2015
bottle - at olbaren. dark amber with a bit of a haze and a lingering head; aroma of half-roasted coffee bean, grainy notes; decent caramel sweetness, some earthy spice and medium bitter finish Excalibur123 (539) - Soria, SPAIN - APR 22, 2015
Bottle (BBF 01.10.14). Dark amber with a large beige head. Sweet aroma of plums, dates, cocoa, caramel and coffee. Flavour is sweet with notes of plums, cocoa and coffee. Some bitterness, but the finish is mostly coffee and plums. Vinous with an intense aroma and a highly drinkable beer.

Four pack courtesy of Katie. Smell is really nice. Coffee is intense. Appearance is burnt caramel. Very crisp flavor profile, I guess I don’t drink much lager. Coffee is underwhelming. the head sticks around forever, which I like. zvikar (6575) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - DEC 27, 2014
Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks Stas. Pours brown with a huge head, aroma coffee, nuts, chocolate, soil, flavor of chocolate, coffee, nuts, soil, caramel, medium bodied. Nice Camons (13523) - Hasselager, DENMARK - OCT 26, 2014
Bottle @ Studenterhuset, Århus. Pours dark brown with a creamy light tan head. Aroma of malt, coffee, caramel, bread, wood, but also a strong vegetables note that i offen get in coffee beers. Flavor is light sweet, malty, caramel, bread, nuts, nice strong coffee, dark bitter chocolate. Medium body, soft carbonation, some warming alcohol. For me taste is alot better than aroma here, no veggies. 251014 slowrunner77 (13231) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 1, 2014
"looks like a doppelbock. smells like a doppelbock...at first. pretty intense coffee aroma after a few minutes, which is the beers strong point. lokks nice, a little thin for the style, but the flavor is quite nice too. bready, carmel sweet and bitter coffee. nice breakfast brew. "
