Its big and full bodied with lots of roasted malts and balanced with heavy hops to put this imperial in a league of its own.
Previously known as Dark Horse Imperial Stout.

uncomplicated beer review. This was my last beer of the night. This is my favorite Dark Horse beer, but that isnt saying much...I am not a huge fan of this brewery. I do remember just a coffee taste with a burnt aftertaste. Dont get the alcohol when you are drinking it, but before you finish you feel it. There is a hoppiness to it too that I was not fully expecting,

Plead the fifth Thats an easy review but Ill pad it a bit: Aroma is a bit Boosie Poor parents is a perfect dark pitch black. There is a hoppy-ness, as a description implies yet a lot of malt character to balance this. Strong but stands apart frim competitors in hop character - ! I like it. Cheers

0.355l bottle. Pitch black body with a quickly disappearing brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, caramel and floral hops. Taste of coffee, chocolate, caramel and some floral and spicy hops. Thick bodied with not much carbonation. Pretty much like a bottle of thick coffee. Great RIS.

Very dark, black even, with a small brown-tan head that recedes into a thin ring quickly. Dark fruit, chocolate aroma with roasted malts as well. Thick mouth feel. Roasted taste, lots of coffee, with solid bittering in the middle and finish.

This is a really good imperial stout. I think it is probably better from a bourbon barrel, but I was really impressed with the blend of malts and hops that create a very chocolatey and rich beer that is bold in flavor, but easy on the palate. This is an imperial I can drink, which takes away, but also adds.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2017 Zwart stroperig bier met dikke mokka-kleurige schuimkraag. Aroma van (gebrande) mout, toast, espresso. Dik en vol van smaak met goeie (koffie)bittere afdronk. Noten, pure chocolade, bitter, beetje rook. Prima stout.

Charred roasted malts, dark chocolate, and espresso. Taste is semi-sweet chocolate, roasted malts, soy sauce, and a dry bitter hop finish.

Bottle into a snifter showing pitch black with light latte colored lacing around the edges. The nose shows a lot of roasted malts but seems to be mixed with enough bready malts to give a slightly clean grain edge. The palate is full bodied and lightly carbonated but very smooth bodied. Strong flavors of cleanly roasted malt with an equally intense black coffee edge. Bitterness is black coffee without any unpleasant toasted bitterness. Completely dry but extremely well balanced flavor in all aspects. Theres literally not a note out of place. Very well hidden ABV with barely any heat.
