It's big and full bodied with lots of roasted malts and balanced with heavy hops to put this imperial in a league of its own.

Chocolatey with light burnt roast aroma. Pitch black, and viscous; starts with a brown head that fades to nothing. Thick chocolatey with a finish that lingers..maybe some vinilla tones in the after taste. A solid imperial stout, really enjoyable! Would love to try a barrel aged version.

Kita (1949) - Koper, SLOVENIA - NOV 21, 2016
Bottle, 0.355l. Pitch black color with thin frothy quickly diminishing brown head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, caramel, wood and alcohol. Taste starts with moderate sweet and rich roasted malt and chocolate, follows by sweet licorice and slightly dry cocoa, mouthfeel is warming alcoholic, while finish is moderate bitter. Full body, thick texture and average to lively carbonation in palate. Pretty much as expected, just excellent...

Pours opaque coffee brown with a serviceable tan head. Aroma offers molasses, roast malt, quality coffee and chocolate tones. Flavor nicely echoes the aroma while sticking in some evergreen hops. Firm moutfeel has good fizz. Plead for a bottle.

Vintage: 2011 - Intense black in color with a reddish tint. very light brownish head. aromas are roasted malts, chocolate, nuts and dark fruits (plum mostly). this is a full bodied beer, with a rich texture and moderate carbonation. astringency is insignificant. flavors are all roasted malts, no sweetness, dark chocolate, hints of coffee well balanced by bitterness. some alcohol warmth is present. after 5 years of ageing, I expected it to have mellowed a bit more. it finishes very dry and with lingering alcohol. overall a very American Imperial Stout that shows no negative off-flavors from cellaring.

Végre újabb imperial stout régóta várt aromái csiklandozhatják orrom, a mai estén a Dark Horse jó hírnévnek örvendő főzetével kedveskedek ízlelőbimbóimnak. Tökéletesen fekete ital, amelyen bézs habkarika marad meg barátságosan, kinézete alapján csak a legjobbra számíthatunk. Szaloncukros, marcipános, kakaómasszás édességek jegyeit viselő aromái intenzívek, szertelenül sokszínűek, ezeket határozottan fogja egybe egy fekete, mély és nemkülönben tartalmas, férfias karakter, egyfajta földes, fás jelleggel. A minden érzékszervünket kiélégítő, izgalmas benyomások csak fokozódnak, amikor egy kortyot veszünk az italból, az ízjegyek szétterülnek, szétolvadnak a szánkban, s szinte végtelen teret biztosítanak a tapasztalásnak, majd’ minden molekulája mondanivalóval telt, elmélkedésre, gyönyörködésre alkalmat biztosító alkotóeleme az étcsokoládé pudingos, diós, mákos, csokoládéfagylaltos, marcipános, eszpresszós, s megannyi nyalánkságot felvonultató testnek. Szuper!

12 oz bottle. Now that is one complex beer! Love the way the aromacie is completely with scents of cocoa beans and coffee changing with time to different variations oferty chocolate and coffee drinks. The great thing about it is how plum and dried fruit complement these other scents. Perfect game of thrones in my nose with this one - every minute a new scent is dominating. Amazing. Pours pitch black with thick brown head. Taste is maybe even better than the aroma! Coffee, dark chocolate, earthy notes, vanilla, licorice, mollases, roasted malts and some noble alcoholic feeling like after drinking a good fortified wine... Wow! Thick and full bodied feels oily and very on the spot. Overall I have to say that this was one of the best classic imperial stouts I’ve had in months. Amazing!

12 oz bottle. 11%. From a trade with Pailhead. Thanks a lot Kevin!
Black color with a small brown head. Roasted malt, licorice, alcohol, cough syrup, dark fruit and sweetness in the aroma. The flavor is really strong... roasted malt, dark fruits, alcohol, licorice, some saltiness, sweetness and some bitterness. Really strong. Not really a complex one, more like a straight forward Imperial Stout.
