Rod is a refreshing, medium bodied red ale brewed with aphrodisiac herbs for woman and men alike. Brewer Russ Beattie was working on his own version of Sex Panther, using passion flower, epimedium, damiana, and ginko to elevate the levels of spring time friskiness and brewmaster Aaron Morse decided that the best way to spread the love was via Rod.

HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - AUG 15, 2015
On tap at the brewpub. Dark reddish pour with a thick khaki colored head. Aroma of red malt, floral and root notes. Flavor is bitter, dry, with some sweet malt notes. Full bodied, above average carbonation. Finishes with bitter root and botanical notes. Overall, one of the better weird spiced/root beers I’ve ever had.

I had this at the tap room in a pint glass, Wow! I couldn’t/ wouldn’t put it down! Malty, sweet, refreshingly complex. My partner in brewing and I were on a 15 brewery weekend trip, we saw bigger and we saw smaller breweries, but no one with more loyal fans. I was impressed by the number of mugs hanging from the ceiling for such a small town, more than the population! That should tell you something. Get ya some.

Pours unclear chill amber on tap at the brewery. Aroma is light sweet malts and floral notes. Flavor is smooth bringing a blend of the herbs but not overbearing with just the right sweetness, petiteness. So great for the style and so refreshing on a hot summer day!

bigtaster (1037) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - MAY 9, 2015
From tap at dark horse in a pint glass. Cloudy red body with small off-white head.. Smells like roasted barley. Medium body, sweet, good.

tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - MAY 9, 2015
Tap @ Dark Horse: Murky, swampy brown color, opaque with a gray tinted cap. Aroma is very, very mild. Light pine, toast, caramel, faint herbal essence. Flavor is more earthy & caramely. Pine, toasted bread, slightly toffee, a bit of nuttiness, very mild citrus peel, faint herbs. Medium-thick body just shy of sticky.

Christian (13921) - Odense, DENMARK - JAN 7, 2014
On tap at Christian Firtal. Hazy copper with a lasting off-white head. Malty aroma of caramel with ripe fruit and herbal-floral notes like heather. Quite sweet malty and fruity flavour.

KnutAlbert (6798) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 2, 2014
On tap at Olympen, Oslo. Dark ruby, very fruity. Cherries, redcurrants, blood orange. Refreshing, recommended.

zenkis (1079) - Ogre, LATVIA - DEC 31, 2013
on tap,
Pour lively ruby red with super thick creamy, beige top lasting extremely long. Aroma reminds scotch ale, very caramely. Taste is candy sweetish with almost no hops bitter but with roasted malt bitter touch, interesting combo. Almost full body, a bit warming alco in aroma. Avg lasting aftertaste with minimal roast bitter and ...
