Draft to taster at Dark Horse. Looks solid; a hazy amber with thin off-white head that dissipates into lacing fairly quickly. Smells of herbs and flowers. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Not bad, but a little herbal for my preference.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark reddish pour with a thick khaki colored head. Aroma of red malt, floral and root notes. Flavor is bitter, dry, with some sweet malt notes. Full bodied, above average carbonation. Finishes with bitter root and botanical notes. I had this at the tap room in a pint glass, Wow! I couldn’t/ wouldn’t put it down! Malty, sweet, refreshingly complex. My partner in brewing and I were on a 15 brewery weekend trip, we saw bigger and we saw smaller breweries, but no one with more loyal fans. I was impressed by the number of mugs hanging from the ceiling for such a small town, more than the population! That should tell you something. Get ya some. Pours unclear chill amber on tap at the brewery. Aroma is light sweet malts and floral notes. Flavor is smooth bringing a blend of the herbs but not overbearing with just the right sweetness, petiteness. Tap @ Dark Horse: Murky, swampy brown color, opaque with a gray tinted cap. Aroma is very, very mild. Light pine, toast, caramel, faint herbal essence. Flavor is more earthy & caramely. Pour lively ruby red with super thick creamy, beige top lasting extremely long. Aroma reminds scotch ale, very caramely.
