Why is the Grim Reaper holding a mailbox? Well, that mailbox is from a dead Dark Horse beer. The Grim Reaper better know as "Death" was quite fond of our classic Sapient Summer Wheat Ale. When we changed it into a Belgian Style Triple, Death thought it would only be appropriate to bring something from that beer into this beer. So he picked the mailbox, and we werent about to argue with him. You can say what you want about him, but that Death sure has a big heart. So anyway...we brewed this beer with a Trappist yeast strain so it is very traditional. The flavors are incredibly complex with notes of mild fruit and finishes with a bit of clove. Although this beer is higher in alcohol it is very smooth and finishes dry on the palate.

355 mL bottle. Hazy orange-amber. Not much head. Strong aroma of ripe fruit and berries, but not sweet. The fruitiness is a little milder in the flavour, but there is an added earthiness. Finishes with a little booze. Lowish carbonation for the style. Interesting one.

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2015 This beer has great color and head. It has a nice spiced flavor, but does have a weird after taste that I cant place. Over all good beer.

12 oz. looks like it was bottled 4/13/15. Nearly opaque orange-brown with a creamy disc of foam. Nose is spicy yeast, brown sugar, light banana, clove and apple. Taste is the same, with maybe a hint of wooden hop on the finish. Medium body has a nice balance with the drying spicy yeast providing the main counter to the big malt and candi sugar presence. Pleasant medium carbonation. Tasty, but not in my top tier of Tripels.

An OK tripel. A little too spicy for my liking, but the clove and plum flavors are solid.

(Tap) aroma of brown sugar, spice, then sour fruit; hazy orange brown colour with a small tan head; balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish

Golden and clear apart that there are bits floating in it. Head is small which is a bit disapointing with this style. Also the carbonation is weak. Aroma is bread and biscuit and lots of mandarine and pear. The taste is medium sweet and the ending is moderate bitterness. The beer hides well the alcohol.
