Keg @ GTMW ’16. Deep brown pour. C02 problems meant that this beer poured as head and eventually settled. Nose is heavy on the vanilla. Tap at Mellow. Pours a pitch black with a finger of beige foam. Big sarsaparilla nose with vanilla, Dr. Pepper & mint notes. Saltwater taffy on the palate with more vanilla and sarsaparilla. No booze!! This is very interesting. Johnsense (1629) - - FEB 4, 2017
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2017 Opens with an uplands like explosion shooting half the bottle all over my kitchen. Pitch black, reddish brown head. Bourbon, sasparilla aroma and taste, black English liquorice notes, cinnamon, oak, like char. Medium body. Draft sample at Cappy’s pour opaque black with thin tan head. Nose big vanilla and spuce, chocolate. Taste very surprising, big vanilla, then ginger and cinnamon like spice. I hate root beer but this was a huge surprise, I liked it.

Pour on tap at HopCat, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of sarsaparilla, dark chocolate, roast, bourbon, hints of oak, slight spice. Bottle shared by a friend. Black pour with a thick tan head. Aroma of malt, vanilla and root beer. Malty flavor with vanilla and chocolate accents before an herbal finish. Tap. Near black with small head. Medium bourbon overwhelms much off the underlying flavor. Dark chocolate, vanilla and mild root beer notes.
