For those of you who dont know who "Scotty Karate" is... He is a local one man band who plays an amazing slurry of honky tonk influenced, punk country songs. His voice is amazing as well as his high energy shows. (Check him out @ www.scottykaratetime.com) So, we decided to make a beer and name it in his honor. This beer is a big, full bodied Scottish ale. It is 9.75% alc. but it is very smooth and balanced. Since Scotty is also very passionate about beer I asked him to write a description for you, so from the man himself... Aroma: Smells like A fresh caramel apple with a hint of cinnamon inside of cranberry shortbread. Or maybe fresh home made hard candy (from home economics class-7th grade). Flavor: Tastes like a smokey chocolate chip cookie, wild roadside cherry-asparagus, woody, crispy leaf on a fall day.

Rated 4/3/13. 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a hazy dark brown color. The head is a one finger offwhite shade with a soft-looking creaminess to it. Retention is decent given the strength, and theres a bit of lacing left behind, too. S: Big caramel here unsurprisingly. Theres also an impressive dark fruit note here that I find enticing. Other notes of brown sugar, molasses, and toffee abound. T: Strong tones of caramel, toffee, and brown sugar open the flavor profile up, with light smokiness and plum-like sweetness building up on the finish. The big problem isnt whats here...its what isnt here. While most certainly well made, it lacks in interesting qualities that could have made it great; nor is it particularly complex. The alcohol is hidden superbly, though. M: Relatively thick, rich, and sweet on the palate, appropriately for the style. Carbonation is only prevalent when allowed to focus on the tongue. O: Its pretty good, yeah, but its missing something - such as the vague stout-like qualities of Old Chub or the drinkable complexity of Dirty Bastard. As such, its hard to recommend over those two.

Aroma: strong mix of caramel, bread and a little bit woody. Appearance: Dark brown colour with minimal head which reduces itself to a beige ring. Taste: medium sweetness, lightly bitter, mostly caramel and dried fruits with a little woody aftertaste Palate: medium body, oily-sticky feeling, quite high carbonation, a little bit alcohol finish. Overall: Not a must have but a really good representation of "Scotch Ale" style.

12 oz bottle pours a slightly hazy reddish brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is full of caramel and vanilla with touches of sour berries and chocolate. Has a big bready flavor in the middle, but tastes neither sweet nor bitter. Body is medium to full without too much carbonation. Theres enough going on in this that I wanted to quickly follow one sip with another to see what I missed the first time. Easily drinkable for 9.75%, and one Ill gladly try again.

@ Budapest. Pours with a mahogany colored body and a very good tan head. Gunky sediment in the bottle with a bit in the glass too. Nice caramel malt aroma and flavor. Well hidden alcohol: I was surprised to see 9.75% ABV listed. Full body with a light touch of alcohol.

Smell is awesome...Like a sweet scotch ale should be with Slightly sour undertones...Taste is smooth, malty sweet but just the right amount.. perfect amount of flavor, finishes with the slightest amount of bitterness...Good depth of flavor too..I bet the Bourbon barrel is even better

Aged few years in my cellar. Bottle. Sensoric. Deep brown with small, semi-thick, light brown head. Poor head retention and lacing. Moderately malty aroma, lightly roasted and lightly rubber-like roastiness, also some caramel. In the background dried fruits. Nearly heavy sweet, light to moderately bitter. Full body, oily and sticky texture, soft to average carbonation. Finish is malty, caramel, dry, dried fruits, slightly chocolate, slightly woody. Summary: Very balanced, malts are not offensive, neither ABV, which is really well hidden, you will find here vast of different flavors. Good, but not very potent. Podsumowanie: Bardzo dobrze zbalanbsowane i ułożone piwo. Bogactwo aromatw, ktre nieźle wspłgrają, a zarazem nie narzucają się - paloność, lekka wędzonka, karmel, toffi, suszone śliwki, daktyle, figi, szczypta cynamonu. Piwo pijalne, proste, a zarazem rżnorodne.
