12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a dark cola color. About one fingers of creamy mocha-colored head is formed with a creamy texture and mediocre retention. Good lacing is left on the glass, at least. S: Theres a definite vibe of stewed dark fruits. I also note chocolate (a good deal), brown sugar, and licorice. Definitely serviceable as far as the style goes; too bad my dislike towards licorice pulls the score down somewhat. T: Yeah. Its definitely heavy on both dark fruits and licorice, especially on the opening. A definite roasted barley note creeps in on the back end, to pair with the crisp, dry finish. This doesnt excite me too much, plus its single-dimensional flavors dont help. M: This is very light for a 7% porter. Combined with the crisp, clean finish, the drinkability is excellent. The crispness is replaced with a bit of sweetness after a few sips, but this could still be chugged regardless. A bit undercarbonated, too. O: Any beer that I can pick up a lot of licorice flavors in is likely to get a big fat meh from me - the only reason this doesnt is because of how damn drinkable it is. Even still, I wouldnt seek this one out in the future.

35 cl bottle. Nice thick beige head with small bubbles, doesnt stick around for long. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, light licorice, pretty standard great aroma for DH porters. Palate is viscous and lightly carbonated. Flavor mostly follows the aroma with chocolate and roastiness with some molasses. Once again a great, sturdy dark ale from Dark Horse.

Negra, opaca y sin espuma. En nariz sorprendentemente licorosa, licor caf, chocolate y notas a frutos secos. Ahumada. Sabor a licor caf y chocolate, final seco a maltas tostadas. Demasiado licor, no parece estar bebiendo cerveza.

smells amd tastes like a stout/porter hybrid with notes of roasted malt, licorice and fruit more than the traditional caramel and chocolate notes in a porter. Pretty nice.

Bouteille: Very deep amber coloured with a chestnut-like sheen, bigger - but quickly collapsing - tanned head; moderate to solid sweetish and slightly sourish nose of roasted malt, coffee and traces of vanilla; moderate to solid sweet-sourish flavour with a light, but well detectable bitterness, medium bodied, pretty soft; gets drier - as usual - towards the nevertheless sweet and sourish fruity-roasty to caramelly finish with a shy bitterness in the aftertaste. A pleasant and well crafted brew...

Draft at FOB, in Rimini, Italy. Black color, nice fluffy foam cappuccino -color. Aroma reminds of chocolate mostly, with nice intensity. Taste has moderate bitterness and some sweetness, with licorice and some chocolate. Nice dryness. An interesting beer, but maybe a little exaggerated as a porter.
