UPDATED: AUG 6, 2007 slightly chocolate, slightly coffee aroma. Aroma was robust. Poured black, and I mean black! Head was small, brown and disappeared quickly leaving a very thin cap the rest of the way. Head was creamy. Left nice lacing. Flavor, started slightly sweet, then the chocolate, caramel and coffee took over in a beautifully balanced flavor that became very slightly bitter in a pleasant way. Body is medium, texture is very creamy and smooth, very soft carbonation. Finish was a pleasantly long. What a great beer!!! I will definitely add this to my favorite rotation of beer. A excellent beer by Dark Horse!!! If you like your beer, black as night, creamy with a nice balance of Malt, Chocolate and Coffee this is a beer for you! riseagainstme (48) - Michigan, USA - DEC 15, 2011
I don’t care, until I have somthing better, this and the rest of the Dark Horse stouts are some of the best beers I have had. They are not hyped like crazy and cost $7 a 4-pack. YUM! Seabass1964 (28) - Paragould, Arkansas, USA - JAN 6, 2014
UPDATED: JAN 10, 2014 Chilled to 45 degrees, served from a pint glass. Dark black in color. Strong pour reveals a two fingered tan to brown head. Very little carbonation. Tan lacing that hangs around for but a short time. Smell of english toffee, vanilla, carmel, roasted malts, scalded sweet cream. Tastes smooth as butter, sweet, creamy and inviting with no alcohol aftertaste. The milk sugers really enhance this one. Definitely a Stout but not overwhelmingly powerful like an Imperial Stout. Very tasty. Underrated at 98, should easily be a 100. My favorite cream stout. I could pour this on my breakfast cereal, it’s just that awesome!
Pours very dark with no head and no carbonation. The alcohol is well hidden which is good. The other flavors come out in the mouthfeel. This beer coats your palate and hints of smokiness come out in the aftertaste. Swirling this beer creates no lacing, this beer is straight blackness. This is my favorite beer so far.

Jet black brew with a thin toast colored head. Taste is sweet with a bit of vanilla and a mild toast-like aftertaste. The decently high alcohol content doesn’t really show up too much. This is the kind of beer I could just drink for a week straight. Might be time to use some vacation days up.... bpreo (2840) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Depp, dark, rich, a perfect Stout. Not just a Cream Stout, nor just a Sweet Stout, but a top notch all-around Stout of Stouts. MarkSachon (1023) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 6, 2014
12 oz bottle at Stoke’s Grill in Pittsburgh. Creaminess at fist tasting with a rich, dark finish. Notes of coal and licorice. Smooth and mellow. Almost perfect. slipy120 (81) - Michigan, USA - JUL 17, 2011
I was skeptical with the whole Dark Horse stout series thing but as an avid stout fan, I dove in head first glad I did! This is the second in the "stout series" and maybe the best. Excellent mouthfeel, strong flavor and aroma. Loved it all around. barak316 (107) - Elyria, Ohio, USA - JAN 23, 2010
Nice midnight dark color. One inch caramel head. Chocolate aroma. Chocolate caramel malty taste. Very smooth beer.
