On tap @ Craft Beer, Islington. Dark amber with a tiny off white head. Fruity and malty tones. Caramel, fruit and bitterness. Medium body with a long, bitter and spicy finish.

Cask @ harp. Pours a dark coca cola colour. Thin off white head. Not a massive aroma, some malt and sweetness. Lighter bodied than I thought. Smoky maltiness, dark fruit, caramel and some rum. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask by handpump at Hengler’s Circus, Glasgow - clear dark brown, medium bubbly beige head, good lacing, mild fruity and sweet malty aroma, toffee, fruity flavour, very sweet, easy to drink

Cask as Dark Star Original at Akkurat. Pours dirt brown with a gray brown head. A dull rosted malt dominated brew. Not a nice smooth cask ale and not a sweet old ale.

Cask @ Akkurat. Pours black with a small grey head. Heavy on the malts. Salty rather than sweet. Dry finish. A bit too thin.

Cask in The Horseshoe, NW3. Dark brown in colour with a bubbly white head. Splendidly complex dark wintry ale, with fruit, burned caramel, earthy hop bitterness at the finish. Very enjoyable.

Cask at The Craft Beer Co. Delicious. This was the first Dark Star beer I ever tried, the first time I drank it, and I’ve yet to find another of their beers quite this good. Toasty, biscuity, malty old ale. Aroma slightly berry-ish, flaour has hints of tobacco, digestive biscuits...

cpetrone84 (1810) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 29, 2012
Pour is dark brown, almost black, with a creamy tan head. Nose has a light note of smoke with a McD grilled chicken aroma dominating. Light dark grapes in back but faint. Taste is thin and stale, light smoke with notes of dark malt, cardboard and moderate sweetness. Body is thin and light with low carbonation.

Cask @ Salhojankadun Pub
Forms a small, beige disappearing head. Aroma is rather strong on milk chocolate. Also some cocoa powder.Flavour has essence-like milk chocolate, some licorice and soy sauce. A bit harsh, bitter and sour finish. The sour notes get stronger towards the end of the glass and make this feel a bit contaminated. Quite rich for a real ale.
