Cask Conditioned at The Horse & Groom, Caulcott, Oxon. Golden with perfect head. This is Dark Star Hophead's big brother, if you like hops, then this is the boy for you. A glorious whoosh of bitterness greets the first mouthful with a heady citrus and peppery twang. Fantastic balance that allows the bitterness to come through. There is a pine nut note in the finish, top quality bitter. WhiteStar (37) - Swindon, ENGLAND - MAY 6, 2004
Cask Conditioned @ Red Rose. A modern bitter in the American style. A razor’s edge of blood and grapefruit, dusted down with pine sap and horse’s hooves. A frozen star light. harrisoni (18572) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - NOV 11, 2006
Cask handpull at Evening Star, Brighton. Aromatic autumnal ale according to the pump clip. Copper colour with lasting beige head. Aromatic American hop aroma, bit of cat pee. Good in mouth, decent juicy malt, before sherberty earthy hop cuts in and lasts and lasts. Beautifl. Utterly drinkable. Gorgeous hop/malt balance. Resiny piney hop. Cask in the Evening Star, Brighton. Pours clear gold with a foamy, white head. Dry, crackery malts on the nose with big straw and citrus hops. Flavor is medium sweet with nice, sun-kissed toast, and bitterness of earth, hay, pine and further citrus. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Some sweet malts in the finish with grassy hops, sweet ctrus and some modest resins. Really, really nice beer. Fin (10536) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 6, 2011
Cask handpump at The Royal Blenheim, at the DERT festival held in Oxford 05.03.11 Golden in colour, this is fruity, crisp, dry and with a great bitterness, grapefruit stings through. Beer of the day, went back in here later but the pub was heaving with all of the Morris Rapper dancers and it’d been replaced. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0

Bright golden ale with a rich creamy head. The aroma is of honey and melons. Taste is smooth and balanced with a crisp dry grapefruit finish. A cracking beer you could drink anytime.

A crisp, bright looking yellow ale. A real citrus punch in the aroma that follows through in the taste. The finish is astringent and very pleasurable. A great beer that I wish was available more readily in these parts. Ubik (5) - Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - SEP 27, 2006 does not count
Cask @ Selden Arms, Worthing. Excellent condition, amber coloured, extremeely hoppy. Great beer. DonMagi (5593) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 21, 2007
Cask in Blackfriers. Aroma is bursting with pineaple and peach, seriously furity cirtus and well rounded. Taste is more balanced as you can get the pale malt character, but the hop character domoinated as is excellently drinkable and just another really well made dark star. Cask at the Eastbourne Beer Festival, 9th Oct 2008. Clear amber. Great caramel malt aroma with a toasted hint to the taste. The toffeeness is balanced by the dry Amarillo hops. My favourite Dark Star beer so far.
