330ml bottle, 2014 vintage. Almost black with no head. Aroma is dark fruits, roast malts, alcohol, aniseed. Taste is dark fruits, liquorice, roast malts, aniseed, slight medicinal, alcohol is very warming and doesn't burn. Rich and full bodied, fine carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. Not bad but too much liquorice/aniseed flavour from this to really enjoy it, can see why people rate it so highly though. Zlotta (3823) - Hagen / Düsseldorf, GERMANY - OCT 8, 2017
0.33 l bottle from 'Rudat', 2014 vintage, best before December 2016. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, quickly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish, malty and moderately roasty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and hints of dark ripe fruits. Quite sweet, malty, moderately roasty taste of dark chocolate, licorice, some coffee, hints of dark ripe fruits and hints of ash, followed by a medium long, rather roasty-bitter, slightly earthy-dry finish. Medium to full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Well-balanced and round, tastes maybe a little bit oxidized already. jjsint (3493) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 4, 2017
Bottle from Brewklopedia, Leicester. Very nearly black with a purplish hue. Little ring of beige/cream head. Liquorice, raisins, bourbon, cigarette ash and charcoal in the aroma. Taste is bittersweet, boozy and creamy, with the long luxurious finish bringing butterscotch, salted plum and yeast extract in the aftertaste. Full body with just enough carbonation to give it a bit more zip (as if any were needed). And man, do you feel the ABV. Really special. mariuspoenari (2969) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - SEP 17, 2017
Dark mahogany pour with a thin short-lived tan head. Notes of dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, bitter cherries, sherry, oak, some dried fruit, brewed coffee. Quite complex, as the label suggests. If I didn't know better, I'd say it is sherry barrel-aged. Medium to full body, low carbonation, bitter-sweet finish. Gary (2065) - London( born and raised), Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 11, 2017
330ml bottle. Magpie ,Brentford. Fumes rise from the tulip..roast malt complexity suggestion of coffee, ink, fudge covered in chocolate, Michelle Obama's ass crevice... Deep black liquid with a khaki head of two fingers. Drinks fine. Rich, sweet and bitter roasted. Everything I mentioned in the aroma, basically. Good shit.

330 ml bottle, from Ales By Mail. Vintage 2014. ABV is 10.5%. Pitch black colour, minimal tan head. Aroma of roast malts, leather, horse stable, coffee, dark chocolate, hints of molasses and oak. Very moderate but sufficient carbonation. The rich and medium sweet flavour has roast malts, vinous notes, dark dried fruits, coffee, dark chocolate, hints of oak. Warming mouthfeel. Excellent beer. Keg. A overpowering flavour and aroma of alcohol that left a metallic taste in the mouth. To me the flavours were in no way integrated and the mouthfeel didn’t work. Maybe the problem was that it was an "end of evening" beer when my palate was shot to bits, so a re-rate is probably necessary. s_hartshorne (2814) - wakefield, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - APR 2, 2017
