Had in a large format bottle in British Columbia. Pours a dark medium black with a very thin viscosity. Slight bitterness on the finish, not very dry. Tasty and balanced but certainly not a memorable brew. zeek (194) - British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 27, 2009MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 16, 2008
A Mes rate: Keg at The Evening Star. haddonsman (1234) - Derby, Derbyshire, ENGLAND - FEB 28, 2007
Dark mahogany with a slight tan head. Milky cereal aroma with lots of oats and a light tobacco hint. Malt and wheat in the flavour with more tobacco and a reasonable bitter chocolate finish.
Cask (gravity) London Drinker festival 2006. A reasonable stout, but perversly chewy and washy at the same time. Good roast and choc flavours but (almost literally) pales by comparison to other Dark Star stouts we tried that day. TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 18, 2006
Pint poured at The Evening Star in Brighton, very dark with a creamy tan head. Aroma is of roasted coffee. Tastes stronger than its 4.2%, flavours of cherries and molasses, a bit tart.

Cask (gravity dispense), London Drinker Beer Festival, March 2006. Very roasty, with plenty of coffee in the aroma. More deep malt o=in the flavour, with chocolate backup. Oatmeal stouts often have some residual sweetness, but not this one. Resoundingly dry, with a lasting, distinctly bitter finish. Light, but smooth, mouthfeel. I like it! biz82 (1327) - austin, Texas, USA - MAY 6, 2006
On nitro at their pub in Brighton. Looks like Guinness. Mild, burnt coffee aroma. Very smooth and fruity with acrid burnt mald and coffee flavors. Finishes clean and bitter. Nice. Joeh (2049) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - APR 8, 2006
Cask at the London Drinker Festival. Dark brown stout with sweet, roasty flavour and perhaps a touch thin. Aarleks (409) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAR 31, 2006
Cask, The Wenlock: With my London guide, Duff. Dusty black and emitting fantastic coffee and oat aromas. This carried through perfectly in the mouth with lots of coffee, oat-goodness, and a lovely lingering roastiness. Really nice flavours that are very well done indeed. Excellent. kook (2033) - Perth, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA - MAR 30, 2006
Cask (London Drinker 06): Black with a brown head. Breakfasty. Silky smooth mouthfeel. Sweet choc, toasty oats. Dry finish. Tasty stuff.
