Cask, Seasonal;
This is a cask version of the Belgian farmhouse ale, historically brewed to be enjoyed by the farmers during the harvest. This beer is light gold in colour, hopped with Saaz, Styrian and Belgian Goldings and pitched with a specially imported Saison yeast that ferments to dryness and provides a distinct flavour.

Cask at Cloisters. Yellow, a little cloudy. Cider apple and lemon on the nose. Lemon, grapefruit and rosemary flavours. Some lingering bitterness. Not bad.

Cask at CPK. Pours a lightly hazed, yellow-gold with a fine, foam head. Prominent Belgian yeast aroma, some bubblegum and clove. Medium sweet, very yeasty, some biscuits, banana. Medium in body with soft to fine carbonation. Slightly dry finish, more clove and yeast. Nice.

[email protected] Star, Bishops Stortford. Only pub I went in to during my visit to Bishop Stortford beer festival, this thanks to an elder CAMRA member I walked to the festival with and he had heard of this place. Aroma is quite much wheat beer like (banana, mild spices as well as some citrusy notes), with also some slight earthyness. Flavour is quite fruity, wheaty and mildly earthy.

Not particularly saison to my tastes but a pleasant beer all the same. Some spice early but morphs into a decent golden ale. Ok I guess but not what I was looking for.

Cask at the White Horse 40 from 40 Festival, 1st May 2010. Hazy golden straw colour with a white head. Hoppy nose with lemon and cloves like a wheat beer. Medium bodied with a dusty dryness. A good summer drink.

Pours a light yellow with delicate white head. Lovely subtle aroma of lemons & dough. On the palate lots of breadiness, lemons & runny honey, & you can taste that distinctive belgian yeast. The beer has a wonderful full roundness for 4.5%, & the sweetness hat is apparent throughout is tempered by a fresh clean flavour & slight bitterness. A great beer, leaning heavily towards saison but I’m glad they didn’t go mad with the strength as it remains lovely & fresh.

Cask (Market Porter, London) - Hazy golden in colour. Banana and hops feature in the aroma. Banana, lemon and hney feature in the taste. The finish is bitter and fruity. It’s like a cross between a saison and a wheat beer.

ladnewton (2000) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 28, 2010
Cask at the Cask Pub & Kitchen on 26th March 2010. Hazy gold with a thin lasting white head of foam. Strong grapefruit hop and "Brugse Zot/Orval" style yeast/hop aromas in a slightly "sticky" texture. Dry hoppy finish. The best Beglian-style cask conditioned ale I have drunk. Exquisite and very well crafted.
