Spring elderflower taste. Well carbonated. Excellent condition. Some slight grassy notes. White grape. Low acid. Clean. Easy-drinking. Great spring ale. I really don’t think this can be bettered for the style. It can go bad easily if kept hot hence why ratings are low and I really don’t understand the low ratings as this is exactly what you want for a spring/golden ale. Great hop combination. Super soft malts. Super clean. CO2 in the tank. Excellent.

Porzadne one złociste Ale. Prawie jak Bitter, jasna zlota barwa, leciutko mglista bardzo mala piana na dwa palce. Zapach olejkow aromator do wypiekow ciasta drożdżowego, A w smaku totalna goryczkowa bomba. Dla wytrawnych piwoszy zdecydowanie, piwo tak zbombardowane chmielem ze ma się wrazenie jakby nie było w nim wogole slodu ForlornHope (524) - Hampshire, ENGLAND - MAR 20, 2016
Pours golden in colour with a thin white head. Deep aroma of bready yeast, malt and funky hop, pungent and aromatic at the same time. Initial sweetness gives way immediately to a huge bitterness. Rich mouthfeel of juicy malt with a vanilla background, citrus tastes and a long, dry finish. Gently carbonated and dangerously drinkable. Great. planky84 (3263) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 28, 2011
Bottle from the Bitter End, Bromley. Bright golden pour with a white head. Grapefruit, pear, peach, mango and a little caramel aroma. Quite fruity. Fruity hop laden flavours with a bit of a sharp citrus bite. Nice fruity finish. Refreshing. MartinT (9880) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 14, 2013
My Bottom Line:
I_LUV_BEER (231) - - NOV 2, 2016
This Golden Ale’s superb malt profile takes you into the very center of a kernel, as hops play around with verbena oil allusions and wooden lengths.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam lingers atop the clear golden.
-Dark Star brewers are brilliant with malt flavor definition. This is a ’simple’ Golden Ale and its malt are as three-dimensional and revealing as many brews with twice the alcohol, twice the number of malts, etc.
-The mouthfeel is comforting. Not too dry, but certainly not too sweet either.
-The flavor polished is very polished.
-Malts also share nut skin angles.
Served in a snifter from a 500ml bottle. Pours clear golden colour with a medium white head. Aroma is grass, caramel, hey, floral. Taste is grass, tangerine, grapefruit, short dry bitter finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Nice and refreshing brew. leaparsons (10554) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 13, 2006
Bottle. Golden with a white foam. Aromas are sweet zesty lemon, apricot and grapefruit with sweet, addictive hops. Flavours are equally hoppy and fruity with more grapefruit bitterness. Quite light in the malts department but no worry. Dry and bitter on the finish. This was supposed to last one hour - its gone in the time it took to write this. Bottle. Begins with a nice garden hop bouquet mellowed by slight fruit tones and finishes with a slight bitter tone. Overall, its pretty well balanced with the mix of hops stealing the show. I love those cascades. AndrewC (376) - Canterbury, Kent, ENGLAND - NOV 26, 2011
Now Dark Star Hop Head on cask (preferably at the Butcher’s Arms in Herne, Kent) is in my top 5 favourite session bitters of all time. The rest of the Dark Star range is good but not something I would search out. So, to the Sunburst... Smells like proper beer i.e. cask - bottle beer just isn’t proper beer imo. Good mouthfeel, not too fizzy. This is a juicy beer; lots of fruit salad and grassy lemon and lime rind flavours. Nice citrus rind and hay finish. A tasty beer, and in a bottle - well I never. fairwater (146) - Reading, Berkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 25, 2012
Bottle from Morrisons. Pours clear light gold, very little head. Initial aroma has a maltiness to it, with light fruit, elderflower? Sharp bite of bitterness fades slowly to a more mellow but tongue-coating bitter aftertaste. Grapefruit. Good beer from a great brewery.
